The cheapest way to eat good food is street food. Unlike in the United States and like in Thailand, the street vendors take a lot of pride in their wares and there are healthy choices and a lot of variety. I have never gotten sick from eating Colombian street food. Rappi is convenient. Your girl will also have the most expensive Rappi menu items memorized and she will order enough food to feed her kid and mom at home. Have fun.

Can definitely get for less than 40 k though. You can easily bring it down to maybe 400-500 per month if you wanted to.

Assuming you are eating near El Centro, I can tell you how low it can go before the pandemic. One time I paid less than 60 mil for 5 people for lunch in a restaurant inside the Gutenberg building. You can get street food for around 5 mil. The kind that they have several pots with various choices including rice, noodle, meat, bean, fish, salad, drink. It is around 10 mil to get something similar in a local restaurant in El Centro. Walk to Minorista and you can get Lechon or Mondongo with rice, drink for 4 or 5 mil depending on size, fresh orange juice is 1 or 2 mil, half avacado from fruit vendor to go with your soup is 500 COP.

As for taste, the well known dishes like Mondongo and Lechon are not as good as the more expensive and well known restaurants but I think other street food that is similar to home cooking is very good and you can't really get those in the restaurant.

There doesn't seem to be much talk of these websites as options, is there a reason besides $$.

You can eat the healthiest diet imaginable, just buying fresh fruit and veggies from the market for almost nothing. You can also eat street food really cheaply. Fortunately, Medellin has a full range of options as well. It also has restaurants that would eat up your $660 in just a few days. What are your eating habits? Are you a foodie? How do you feel about fried chicken and other fried stuff? While it's no longer there, there was a vegetarian restaurant run by the Hare Krisnas at the end of Botero Plaza across from the old church that served an entire meal for about $1.75. I'm not a vegetarian, but it was a really good, filling meal. I'd be surprised if they didn't relocate somewhere- anyone know if they still exist?

If there are people standing around waiting for their food, it's a good bet the food is good and fresh. If you see those little white sausages about the size of your big toe (salchichas blanca), go for it. Right now your USD will go further than any time in the six years I've been traveling to Colombia.
