I bow to your knowledge on this if you have been there more recently than I have. And I might be thinking of another of the same owner's restaurants on Soi 8, Viva, which seemed not to include a 10% Service Charge on their food for a very long time. Maybe they do now though. Could have sworn Monsoon didn't either, but it has been a few weeks since I've been there. Their Chipotle Chicken Taco Salad is another favorite there.
Yep, there last weekend. The ++ is a 7% VAT (Sales Tax). I never noticed before but it is mentioned in the menu linked below.

I did not look for a notice about + or ++ aded at the bottom of a page, but it certainly could be there now. I wonder if that added Vat and SC is fairly new.
I got a little tour of the new beer bar complex going up on Soi 7 last night. I was surprised by how many separate bar spaces will be set up in that complex and how far and deep it goes back off the soi. It really is kind of a big deal new girl and drink addition to the area. I'm told there will be a passthru to and from Soi 5.
3-4 bars are already open for business, at least in the evening, some on Soi 7 itself and 1-2 deeper into the complex down the walkway.

I remember paying extra in previous visits this year and last too.
As you say there is a newer menu now, but the linked menu below looks like the older one so the added VAT was there before. The website still has the older format menu online.

Is there any need for so many spaces? Still this is Bangkok renowned for unneeded developments. I have to guess replaced the area just before Beer garden that used to have many beauty shops, hair, nails, massage etc.
Many bar areas of the past failed and eventually closed down.

Many bar areas of the past failed and eventually closed down.
Yes, the space just before Beer Garden. The two largest out front are Rumours Bar and Lucky something or other. Soon to be finished I'd say. There appeared to be a small private party or soft opening in the Lucky one a few evenings ago but may have been the owners 'wetting the bar' even though it's not finished. Rumours is said to be the one from Soi 22 bar complex which will close soon (or later maybe).
No doubt the new area will impact on Beer Garden's business and for the few 'pavement bars' and street food vendors along the Soi. Could be the final death knell or it could attract more customers to the area which has been increasingly grungy for the last while. Maybe the emerging demographic of the area is not ideal any more for new bars. Who knows?

Plaza on Soi 22. Maybe some of those spaces will be restaurants and not beer bars with available girls.
Yes, I have to say the thought crossed my mind where will they get enough acceptable girls to work in these bars. I mean, will all of the strays hanging on to the bitter end in QPP indeed show up to work here after all? Will they be spill over from an over crowded Thermae or those not willing to stand on Soi 4 and Sukhimvit anymore?
Those were the only places that appeared to me to have an over abundance of P4P girls with no place to sit or get inside out of the rain or heat. Otherwise, I have not seen a flood of hookers showing up looking for a spot to set up shop outdoors lately.
Which also brings up the issue of barfines. The spill over, crowded out Thermae girls, Soi 4 and Sukhumvit girls and the Beer Garden girls right next door are not barfine girls. They freelance. But I assume the girls working in the new complex will require a barfine as they did in QPP on Soi 22.
Then again, it would be interesting if as many girls that used to work at the late night cart bars that are no longer being set up nearly as much as before show up at those new complex bars. Similar amount for barfine, ST and such.

I partake at oilies and very rarely soi 4. I would venture to say the Viets on soi 4 at present will be far better looking than what you see in the discos these days. And they're 2 k st.
Do the Viet girls congregate in a particular place on soi 4?
Do the Viet girls congregate in a particular place on soi 4?
I would say right just after alley that led to Annies and Rajah, now has Hillary 1?, is a typical spot. These girls usually have light skin and may not look exactly Thai. Opposite the little Soi with ST Hotel Di Place.
However I have met viet girl in another location. One was right outside the Nana Hotel sign wall.

I can look in Beer Garden again too, despite scepticism. Can't recall for sure now if I ever did a Beer garden girl.
I don't think many customers currently not paying a BF, are going to want to start paying one, so girls in new complex may be tempted to move to beer garden, to avoid the BF problem and to get customers more easily. Certainly BF girls are not going to be freelance and probably on a monthly salary.
Strangely I can't even remember now what typical BFs were for the cart bars. I did BF on a cart bar 2 or 3 times. One cart bar girl was good, others fairly ordinary.

It should be an area modeled on Pattaya soi 6, with 400 Baht BF and 1 k ST, but certainly it won't. If it would be, they'd pack in the punters.

The girl from the cart bar had worked in her QPP bar before and was asked by the mamasan to work in the new Soi 7 bar when it opens too. The barfine at her cart bar is currently 300 baht. Which is the same as I remember paying for the occasional cutie I took from cart bars back when they were all over the place after 11PM or so, 4-5 years ago. However, I remember being quoted more than that in some cases back then, 400 baht I think.
Staying at the iCheck Inn Nana on Soi 7/1, spitting distance from Wood Bar and Chrome bar. Walking in and out of this soi is a lot of fun for the first few days but gets old after a while. You have to run the gamut of ladies offering massages, blow jobs and boom boom. Some of them are quite persistent and don't want to take mai karap (Hell No!) for an answer. Overall, I liked staying here, it is very near the Beer Garden and a lot of action. As discussed on the forum, there is a new group of beer bars being built just near the Beer Garden on Soi 7 that may make this a great place to stay. ICheck in is great too, I will review it on the hotel forum.
Went to the world-famous Wood Bar on Soi 7/1 and was led to the back room by Joy. Seriously, as I write this 4 days later, I can't even remember what she looked like. I do remember she was rough with my dick and I had a lot of trouble dropping my load. After a week of mongering, the base of my willie is getting a little tender from the women who pinch the base of my dick while blowing me or ram the condom into my groin with a vengeance. I was seriously disappointed in Woods Bar after everything I had read about it.
Touristy stuff today: Was going to the Jim Thompson house and got picked up by a tuk tuk driver / hustler. He took me to get measured for a suit. Then he took me to Chao Praya for a long tail boat ride and tour of the canals. I don't have to go to Venice now, thank goodness. Then I walked around what Arun and what Pho, seeing the 150-foot-long reclining Buddha. I am mostly in Thailand for the mongering, but I do need cover photos to send home to justify my trip.
Back to the mongering. Upon arriving at Soi 7/1 I allowed myself to be pulled in to one of the massage parlors by Mai and Kiwi. I chose Mai, about 152 cm, young, 45 kilos, and had pretty eyes, about 30 years old. She proceeded to wreck my dick while pinching the base so hard I couldn't keep an erection. It was almost as big of boner-killer as seeing a picture of Hillary Clinton! After trying to stop her from inflicting the pain, I called her off and got Kiwi to do the job. Kiwi is about 158 cm, also about 30 and what you may call full-figured, voluptuous, curvy, etc. She took matters in hand and finished the deed in a short time. When I was leaving, Mai asked me why I rejected her. I took her thumb and pinched the base of it so hard it should have hurt and told her that was what she was doing to Mr. Happy. It hurts! Women complain about men hurting their sensitive areas, can't they understand that Herman the One-Eyed German wants a soft touch? I think she got the message, but I don't know if the lesson will stick. Paid her 200 baht to quit, 800 to Kiwi to do the job right.
Ah the problems of mongering.
These blow job bars are nowhere as good as the Soi 6 Pattaya experiences I had last week. See Pattaya board for details.

Trip to Kanchanaburi to see the River Kwai historical area. Very interesting, again I had Namm's Taxi service take me there. I highly recommend them. 10-hour trip with the traffic and spending about 4 hours at the site.
In the evening I contacted Smooci and ordered up Bobby. I have been drooling over her for months, just waiting for a chance to partake. Pictures are a combination of smoking hot and Girl Next Door. Well, I guess Photoshop has it's uses. She was nowhere near that cute and not very accommodating. Non-members have to book for two hours. After my first pop at the 25-minute mark, I knew I didn't have another shot in me. I told her "Khap koon caaa" (thanks) and sent her on her way. Smooci worked seamlessly, they were great to deal with, and they used emails and texts to keep me well informed.
