Cartagena Reports

I have done all 3 destinations, and I would choose Pattaya over both Cartagena and Sosua. The scene in Pattaya caters to mongers more so than Cartagena and Sousa. This is why pound for pound Thailand is the best mongering destination out there in my opinion, way better hotels for good prices, more to do during the day besides mongering, better beach in Pattaya, the food is great, night life is ridiculous, outstanding GFE service from the Thai girls, and it's "Up To You" like they say in Thailand on how much money you want to spend out there.

I would definitely try Cartagena. I can't speak for Pattaya and have no interest in going there because I'm not into the way the girls look at all. Also I believe its a very long flight from the NY area. I use to go to the Sosua area 6 or 7 times a year, now I go once a year and go to Cartagena 6 or 7 times per year. Beaches are about the same at both places, nothing to write home about. If you go to Cartagena rent a apartment. The Colombian women blow the DR women away. There gorgeous and friendly. Also there is way less bullshit with the women as long as your not cheap. If you treat them rite, dress nice and be respectfull you will have a great time. The Colombian women want respect regardless of what there doing to make money where as in the DR, the girls will put up with just about anything. Thats the biggest difference I have seen. I have seen on more then one occasion a girl tell a guy she didn't want to go with him in Colombia. You will never see that in the DR. Also I am a night person so I love that I can take a nap from 8 to 12 midnight and get up and go eat dinner and go to the clubs till the sun comes up. I love that. Its not for everyone and if you really don't like throwing on a nice shirt and stylish shorts and loafers or a nice pair of jeans then I would stick with Sosua. But for me I can't get enough of those light skinned big titted no stretch mark Colombianas! Can't wait to get there in first week of November.

Is LDV good on a weekday night? Also to pick up a very pretty girl for me and my companion, does anyone have any suggestions as to the best places to go between now and Saturday?

Got back from CTG a week ago. First trip and it was a lot of fun. The only downside for me was that I was there on a Monday-Wednesday when things are a little slower. LDV was very slow in terms of a crowd but there were about 20 girls there each night with several that were very hot. I don't speak Spanish which was a problem but I got around ok. Stayed at Regatta on the beach. Huge rooms in decent condition. Night clerk wanted to charge me 80K to bring back a girl but when I showed him I booked for two and wasn't going to take his shit, he relented. The first night I took a blonde from LDV to a short time hotel on Carrera 3 near Calle 7. Paid her 150K and 30K for the room. To my surprise she spoke English well. Room was ok but I used my hotel after that. Never made it to Electra or Isis.

Best restaurant I found was Riquisimo, a steak joint several of you have recommended. I wound up going there twice. Only hung out on the beach for a few hours (2-4pm on a Wednesday) and had the pleasure of meeting Tony. He was pushy but I walked to another beach to relax. Tony had 2 girls working and I was tempted by Angelica but decided to save my strength for later that night. I didn't see any freelancers elsewhere on the beach.

I saw 2 SWs just inside the clocktower and took one to a nearby short time hotel. Can't remember her name but she was a little older with a scar on her forehead and with some mileage on her. Negotiated 50K short time. She was actually really nice and terrific in bed. Right before I chose her, I saw another tall, thin girl with very dark black skin close to Tu Candela. Her asking price was 150K but when I laughed she started dropping her price rapidly. I was going to take this one but I noticed some whiskers on her chin. I got grossed out and went with the older one. In total there were two SWs at the clocktower area but it was 10:30PM on a Wednesday night. Maybe I was there too early but I was execting to see more girls. I also saw about 6-7 SWs either in front of Rio Casino or one block either way on San Martin. I never saw any SWs in Laguito near the Hotel Dann. Did I miss them? I usually have a good eye for SWs.

All in all I had a good time in CTG. I'm a Thailand guy but this was a nice change of pace. I live on the West Coast and getting to CTG is a real pain but I hope to return someday. Thanks to each of you that have posted here. And a very special thanks to Hillbilly. Your map was invaluable to me.

Sounds like you made out alright for your first trip. Not being at Playa Hollywood is a waste in my opinion, I have walked the entire beach in both directions many times and the Las America Playa near airport. Relize I made my map in order of importance from top to bottom as far as what I think is most important as far as where to be. The Laguito street girls were everywhere in regular street clothes, for example I say," Hola guapa" and the girl turns around and says,"Hola Papi" pretty good chance she is working girl I don't have those moves that guy on the Medellin thread has!

On another note I think I was there in a beach chair while you visited.

Where should I look for english speaking GFE? I can manage some spanish but I might have a friend with me who speaks no Spanish. Clubs, beaches, dudes on the beaches or agencies? What is my best bet?

Also, what are my best options for afternoons. I rented a very nice condo. Would be nice to hang out for extended periods of time in the condo before we go out and hit the clubs at night.

GFE's are everywhere as long as you are willing to treat the girls nice. As far as english speaking I don't think thats going to happen. In all the times I have been there I only met one that spoke half decent english and she wasnt that good looking at all. So I passed her selling point was speaking english but I just didn't find her attractive at all. Brush up on your basic spanish and you will have a good time. But your not going to have any real conversations unless you speak fluent spanish. I speak very little spanish and its frustrating but that my problem for not studying more. I still always have a great time.

Been a number of years since I've been back to CTG and frankly I can't wait. I've got three weeks planned in Colombia starting with one week in CTG and then going to take it from there.

Playa Hollywood. Can't stand Tony, I always got my set up there from Pedro who had the spot just west of Tony. My spanish is pretty good and if I chatted with Tony's girls I'd just tell them to meet me somewhere at a certain time so as not to exchange numbers. Good to know Electra is back in business. There used to be a place for late night that was owned by a spanish guy and I think he died last time I was there. Can't remember the name of the place, it was back behind tu candela a block or two. Anyone know if its back in business? Never been but there was a stip club called Chicas Lindas, anyone got info on that place?

Then after CTG thinking Santa Marta. Had good fun there before but a bit slim pickings. Never spent time in Cali but was also thinking of hitting that city up. Any recommendations for a side trip would be appreciated. Then it's to Ecuador where there is a totally different scene. A buddy of mine and I still laugh about the time we walked into a working girl house near Manta and the hand scrawled sign on the wall said Sexo $6 but that's for the Ecuador forum.

The little surf shop there does rent boards. I think about 20. 000COP an hour. The boards aren't the best but if your desperate they'll do, but if you do rent one, take your own warm water wax with you. I rented one once and I think it had candle wax on it. If you have 3 weeks in Colombia I would take it, especially if you are going to Santa Marta. Ever heard of Arrecifes? And if you are going to Ecuador too, your almost guaranteed waves there this time of year.

I always take mine. Just in case, even if I'm only staying a week. I wonder when your there could you post back and tell if there are any surf-able waves at the jetty?

Yeah know about the little surf shop there. Do you know if there is anywhere to buy wax in CTG? Never surfed Arricifes. Now is that in Tayarona park, the beach in front of the camp ground? Or is it actually farther down the main road going away from Santa Marta? Made it to Casa Grande one time but no waves. Spent 3 weeks on the pacific coast once upon a time and scored big. As far as Ecuador: I have a board I keep there so I'll probably just sell my 6'6 to the guys there at the surf shop or if you know anyone that would be interested I'll give a good deal on it. And be happy to post back about the waves at the jetty. Any other breaks around CTG? I know there's a right-hander that breaks up inside by the Hilton but that's a 3 times a year at best situation.

Once a street tout swore he knew where there was some so I gave him 10. 000 pesos and off he went. He brought back a huge bottle of liquid furniture wax. Oh well. The other side of Hilton (around the laguito) not the Hilton right, there's a place called Castillo Grande. Worth a look if the waves are 3+.

Arricefes is in Tayrona Park and it's a hike once there. But if you've had your fill of chicas and have an afternoon free, or want to take a chica somewhere there's a place called Prado Mar about an hour north of CTG. It picks up more swell than Playa Hollywood and has easy access.

Other than that I've heard that Mar Bella is a good place but I've never been there for surf. It's near the airport.

But maybe like you. I do prefer the jetty because it's convenient. Your apt. and chicas are still close by.

According to MagicSeaWeed there should be waves Mon-Wed but I don't know how accurate this is.

So I've been to Tayarona a number of times and you hike in a ways and come to that first camp ground. Is that the spot you're talking about? I've always seen alot of water in movement and tons of warnings of drownings but never seen anything rideable. Surfed Pradomar a few times but honestly the water is so nasty there. Saw the magic seaweed report too. Once I headed with some of the top colombian surfers to a place called Damaquil. We had some sort of hook up with the head of the zona there so as not to get messed with and there's a point that does go off but wouldn't have a clue how to get back there or even really feel safe without the right company. 100's of people were watching us the whole time. They hadn't seen any foeigners there before we were told and the colombians they knew from TV. The whole thing was a bit of a spectacle. If you ever want to hit the west coast let me know. I'll be in Colombia through the third week of Oct. Time to dunk dicky!
