Gespierde,
After much consideration of this difficult issue....
I know many here will recommend to you..... the town of Bambari in CAR, but I suspect you are a first timer and need a more genteel introduction to Africa.
Might I suggest you get yourself to Oshikango, Namibia.
You will certainly find what you want there. ;-)
Greetings:
As I've posted previously, the Liberty Court hotel in Osu, just down from the Mariset Hotel in Osu, near the major crossroads of Ring Road East and Labadi Road is one of the few hotels that has air-conditioning and is clean in Accra but does not require payment of over $100 U.S. per night. Their rate is around $25-30 U.S. per night. Most taxi drivers know where the Mariset hotel is but do not know where the Liberty Court hotel is but if the driver can get you to the Mariset the driver can just ask anyone in that area and he will be able to find it. It is only a few blocks away from the Mariset. I would not recommend the Mariset at $80 U.S per night- a complete dump and rip off for that price. If you want to go swimming in a pool the Novotel will take people who are not guests for, I think, about $5 U.S.
I have now found another hotel called the AMPAX hotel located near the Asylum Down roundabout. They have clean rooms for about $10 U.S. per night and 3 rooms that offer air-conditioning at about $15 U.S. per night. Any taxi driver with a bit of questioning of people near the roundabout should be able to find it. And for *&^%$$##@'s sake, you should never pay more than $10 U.S. from the airport into the city. I can't remember but I think it is even less than $10 U.S.
For those like me, on a budget tighter than a squirrel’s bottom may I recommend the Aams Hotel. It's on Nkrumah circle and about £5.00 or $10 per night the rooms aren't luxury but they are clean with a fan, shower and toilet. It is also near some pretty good restaurants and two banks there is also a red light area nearby. But I can't remember the name of the place Wakki Night club and a couple of others are nearby too. Pussy is plentiful and reasonable at cedis 250000 a bang.
I'm going to Ghana and am wondering if anyone has been able to buy cheap generic versions of Viagra/Cialis/Levitra etc from India that are available in Ghana. If yes, let me know what pharmacies in Accra would be selling these. By cheap I mean 50 cents U.S. per tab instead of the standard $5 U.S. per tab. In Sri Lanka you can get "Silagra" for 50 cents per tab. I was hoping to find something similar in Accra.
I was in Accra last year to visit my girlfriend. I am not (yet) showing photo's of her but I have some beachbabes for you guys.
Sunday on Labadi beach. All are available.
Who is hunting who?
Ghana another fine destination hope to make a summer run for those who have beent to Kenya as well which one has the best street action: safest, freakiest etc...
I've been to Accra once and Nairobi 3 times.
Both were excellent, seems like the best sex was in Nairobi, better looking, more versatile and interesting. Best bbbj in my life!
Also, there are a few more ethinic selections for my tastes. Somalis and Ethiopians are among the most beautiful, Massai, (spelled wrong) are tall and the Lua have killer bodies, they all have killer bodies!!!
Don't get me wrong here, I had a blast in Ghana and it is closer for travel. I will return next month!
The top place in Takoradi for the local Pirahnnas would seem to be a place called 'The Africa Beach Hotel' It is located near Doxcove. There are a number of nicer hotels in the Area the best of which is the Raybow.
Action starts around 7 pm and by midnight its in full swing. They usually have an overly loud reggae band playing. If You do decide to venture there be prepared to be hit upon constantly until you chose a girl.
Beer is not cheep by Ghana standards at 17,000 for a baby star.
The Girls will usually settle for 200,000 a night but will always ask for more.
Good luck and happy hunting.
And Mr Jackson sorry if my spelling and grammer are not up to scratch but English is not my first language.
Guys,
Can anyone be kind enough to explain what is the exchange rate between $US or Euro and the Ghanian Cedis?
I could not find that information on the web.
Thanks.

Try this site: http://www.xe.com/ucc/full.shtml
In any case, this is the conversion:
1000 GHC (Cedis) = 0.1094 US$
1000 GHC (Cedis) = 0.0859 EURO

I read on a Ghana web site that you can now obtain an airport visa IF you travel from a country to Ghana that does not have a Ghananian embassy.
Huh? Is this true now?
I'm American, but am usually away from there when ready for Africa travel. Can anybody help with any info?
That is very interesting that you state how many cedis to 0.1 dollars. Its roughly under 10,000 cedis to 1 U.S. dollar.
That is very interesting that you state how many cedis to 0.1 dollars. Its roughly under 10,000 cedis to 1 U.S. dollar.
Actually, what I want to know is the price quoted for the girl's service:
if they ask 200.000 Cedis, that translates in in 200 x 0.1094 = 21.88 US$, or 17.18 Euros. That is cheap!!
When I'm in a foreign country, I'm more interested in converting local prices in my currency.
When the local currency has a low unitary value (as the CEDIS, or the turkish lira), it is simpler to count in thousands.
That's the reason I quoted the exchange rate of 1000 Cedis.
Knowing what I can buy with my salary is not so important.

Just a preference I guess.
Actually, what I want to know is the price quoted for the girl's service:

I do translations sometimes for the immigration service in Ghana and IT IS NOT TRUE ! GIS (Ghana Immigration Service) stopped issuing emergency landing visas a few months ago.
DO NOT TRAVEL TO GHANA WITHOUT A VALID VISA as they have been turning people back at the airport !
