Mongering in Bangkok as an Asian during Covid-19
I would like to summarise my recent experience mongering in Bangkok during the virus outbreak. I am of East Asian descent, but was born and raised in a North American country. For privacy reasons I will not disclose my specific ethnicity. But when I come to Thailand, girls tend to guess I am Korean, Chinese, Hong Konger, or Singaporean. Given I often pass for Chinese, I was unsure what sort of treatment I would get.
I stayed for 2 weeks during late Jan / early Feb and had girls from a variety of sources, including gogos (Nana), escorts (BGE and Smooci), BJ salons, nurus, and freelancers from various apps. I have written several reports in their respective sections on the Thailand forum.
To my relief, girls weren't really fazed by me at all. My fluent English and Western personality / mannerisms certainly helped, and I was never turned down by providers. I got a lot of jokes from the girls, who would ask me if I'm from Wuhan and laugh, but I was prepared for this. The mamasans in the gogos would point at me and scream "Wuhan!" jokingly which was kind of annoying, but it was all in good fun. For the escorts who came to my room, the first thing I did was show them my passport and say "I'm not from China, don't worry" to which they responded with laughter. I would also make them wash their hands thoroughly first thing as well as gargle with Listerine, which made them realize I am serious about cleanliness. But overall, I was never treated with suspicion or paranoia, nor was refused service during my time here. I did however receive some judgey stares from a white couple at a a restaurant when I sat down next to them.
I did see several venues restrict customers from China though:
- The Pimp: if you have traveled to China in the last 30 days, you are not allowed entry. They will inspect every page in your passport to check the entry / exit stamps.
- Doki Doki: sign posted at front desk that says they cannot serve customers who have traveled to China in the last 30 days, but they did not check my passport when I went.
Overall, the Thais are still very welcoming of Chinese despite rising cases here (33 as of today). Most people are wearing masks in public. Thailand remains one of the few countries in Asia who have not imposed travel restrictions on travelers from China, and many Chinese are desperate to escape the bleak situation are coming to Thailand in droves, even after the CNY holiday.

Why we farangs get a bad rap
Interesting night. As I have said, the good and bad times generally come in waves.
A very cute, young, slim, waif-like freelancer Matches me on Tinder or rather I Matched her, says she is only in Bkk for three days and needs money. I should have called the server over and told her to take that drink off my bill right then and there. But for whatever reason I didn't. Plus I guess I was kind of curious what kind of girl pulls that shit at a time when customer numbers are down by major percentages.
Anyway, within a minute or so, her "rest time" off the stage was over. I paid my bill, said bye to Pim and walked over to the mamasan. I asked her why there is no identification for the girls who only get LDs and never go to the hotel for sex with a customer. The mamasan seemed shocked that anyone would ask such a thing. "Up to girl!"
"Uh, I know it is up to the girl to decide if she wants to have sex with a customer. I'm talking about a girl who gestures to a customer for a drink, sits down and the instant her LD arrives she tells the customer she will not be leaving with him for sex. I didn't even talk to her about sex. Is this bar a scammer bar now?"

"Trust me, now that I know this is a scammer bar, I will ask every girl, IF I ever come in here again." As I turned and walked out of Geisha Bar Nana Plaza, the mamasan was still shouting something about this topic at me but I could not really hear through the loud music. However, I am pretty sure it wasn't anything like, oh, please don't go we have plenty of girls to take care of you.
I have been asked several times recently by guys who come to Bangkok often throughout the year but have not been able to make it happen for one reason or another during this coronavirus hysteria if the girls are working harder to please the few remaining customers, offering and providing more, cutting their asking prices and so on.
Well, they can assess what is in these reports on Thermae, the massage shops and my experience with a freelancer and two different go-go bars tonight in order judge for themselves if that is anywhere close to the way Thai people in the P4P industry deal with economic hard times. In my experience, offering and providing more while charging less is not the way Thai people in the P4P industry deal with economic hard times.
