Rafael Silva prices are similar to those quoted by major hotel taxi services, but you can get better prices negotiating. You can get at least a $20 discount. There is an Expreso (non stop bus) between Boca Chica and Santo Domingo, cost should be near $2, they work until 8 or 9 pm. Last time I took Expreso from Boca to Santo Domingo I paid the bus driver $5 more and he left me in front of Napolitano hotel on malecon, the ride usually ends in a bad area of the city which by nightime is not recomended.

There are cabana zones in the east and west part of the city (look at the monger map) , there are two hotels in the Gazcue area (Navarro and Mystik) that offers short term, it cost more than the cabanas but you save on taxi transfers, you save time too, I prefer cabanas than these hotels because their short term is 2 hours only. If you are ok with 2 hours then consider these places.

Doker44 you stated you read SD reports going back to December. How many of those reports did you read where someone actually took a chica out of La Coppa and back to the hotel? Let that speak for itself. La Coppa is not really a puta pick up joint unless you are a high roller.

On Friday night you can have a good time hanging out on Calle Duarte in Boca Chica. You have Sosua experience so just use what you learned in Sosua in Boca. Boca Chica is a minature Sosua. Go to Calle Duarte around 10-11pm and grab a table and chair, order a meal and beer and sit back and watch. For less than the cab fare to and from SD on a Friday night you can spend the evening in Boca with much better results.

Since you will be on the South Coast I would say do a day trip to SD.

Apollo, Aero, Lino etc, etc. $65 between Santo Domingo and Boca Chica is insane. Confirm the driver has the change you will need to avoid wasting your time driving around looking for change or being asked to pay for the fuel the driver wasted. Enjoy your visit!

I know there is a nice bus that is cheap but has anyone ever hired a driver from Boca / SD to PP / Sousa?

[/QUOTE]To hire a driver (taxi) to take you from Boca Chica to Sosua has to be $200 USD or more. The easiest way to get from Boca Chica to Sosua is Caribe Tours or Metro bus service. You can either take a taxi or a guagua to the bus depot in SD. I believe the bus fare is a little less than $10. From your hotel in Boca Chica to Sosua is about five hours travel time.

I'm thinking of going to GBP tonight for the first time and have a couple of questions. Do they have rooms on-site? Are the girls overly aggressive? I'm flying solo and don't want to be bombarded by 20 chica's. Is there a bar where I can chill and have a beer? Is there anything I should know being a first timer there or should watch out for? Anymore information would be helpful. I've gone back 15 pages or so and have read numerous post but just trying to get as much info as possible before heading over.

All the times I have been in there, the chicas have been nice and never overly aggressive.

Can anyone give me the breakdown about Venezuela? It sounds like it is a pretty good area to go for nightlife.

Does anyone have tips on bringing cologne, hair products, etc. I like to look good but I don't want my stuff jacked at the airport. I flew out of POP in September and lost a good $80 in cologne etc. Any tips? Just buy products in SD? What say you gents?

Does anyone know of a card that doesn't charge for withdrawal? I used charles schwabb bank in the past and they didn't charge a thing. I recently closed my account due to bad customer service and won't go back out of principle.

Any suggestions?

Went back last night for a second look but got pulled over by a couple of greenies on a motor bike. I think I was in very close proximity to the place but still am not sure. Driving north on lincoln I went through a yellow light making the right onto Avenida Febrero 27. Made the next right which is where they pulled me over and where (on the left) I think the place may be located. Is this the areas? The greenies said it's illegal to go through a yellow light. They tried a couple of scare tactics but it didn't work. I told them to give me a ticket or take me to the police station so I could make a call. They declined and after much begging (they wanted $2 american for dinner) they let me go without me giving them anything.

This is like my 9th or 10th trip to the capital over the last year. I always have a car and never had any problems. I've driven to La Romana, Boca Chica, all over the city. I've also driven out to the countryside on many occasions. Later last night while driving on Gomez two more greenies pulled me over saying I made a left without my blinkers. I know I had my blinkers on. Problem was I was alone and made the turn right in front of them. Didn't help that I was heading down a deserted dead end street and that they could see I was alone. I realize from both cases that try to scare you and get you in secluded areas. The first time off Febrero 27, when someone walked they would have me drive a few feet to where no other people were present, areas that were more secluded. This time they wanted 2000 pesos and again I told them to give me a ticket (they didn't have any) or take me to the station so I can make a call. They declined and again let me go. The thing that really pisses me off is they followed me down Gomez for about a mile and a half to see if I was heading to where I said I was going. All the while I made sure to stop at every light and wait for the green while other cars in my lane bomped me to go as cars in the other lane just drove through the red lights. The greenies could care less about them.

In both cases I pretended as if I spoke very little Spanish and didn't understand what they were saying. They try to strong arm and scare you. I had another reason I provided them to ensure they'd be be reluctant to take the matter much further. At this time it was approaching 1 in the morning so I called it a night and went home.
