Bangkok Go-Go bars, last Friday
We arrived to Nana Plaza around 19:30, at that time girls still eating their dinner on balconies and more ladies arriving. Still happy hour so got a few cheaper beers in beer garden and watched people. Around 20:30 more farangs coming in and we moved to:
Angelwitch. Last year our favorite bar due rock music and atmosphere. This year same mammasan, same DJ, same security but it was bad. Girls except main dancer mostly bad, uninterested or simply ugly / fat with serious orange skin. They played disco songs and choreo was worst than elementary school theater. Got 1 happy hour beer and run away, disappointment.
Spankys: mainly hotties, good shows (especially the one with cucumber), friendly security and mix of younger / older customers, fun and ladies seemed to enjoy. We were looking for lady to potentially join us for threesome and felt we would be able to find willing and suitable one. Tipped one in shower tub and got hot soapy show. Enjoyed watching other people and generally female friendly place as well.
We left for Soi Cowboy and went to:
Suzie Wong: pretty full, more female customers than anywhere else, watched the strange ping-pong performance, lesbian show (full naked, pussy licking). Had a few beers and wanted to see more bars to compare.
Barracuda: Worst, girls with in swimsuit bra and skirt, totally bored, uninterested, felt like forced adult entertainment. Quick drink and off.
Dollyhouse: Only a few uninterested girls, not a single hottie, felt they are totally bored. Managed to get out without a need to buy an overpriced drink.
Suzie Wong: Went back, 1 AM, had few more drinks, spotted two hotties which we wanted to call to join us. Other couple was faster however suddenly 2 other girls came to us, one asked me to dance (I agreed) and the other sat next to my boyfriend and asked if I don't mind which I didn't. After a few seconds of dance with my lady she started to kiss me, very sensually and very good technique. She sat on my lap and we cuddled. Unfortunately she was in swimsuit and her bra was heavily padded so too small boobs for my taste, the other one trying to warm up my boyfriend however she was not pretty at all and a bit pushy. He did not enjoy. We bought them ladydrinks (220 baths each), and kept them for more fun. Mine was really into lesbian action, she enjoyed and probably likes ladies more. We paid one more lady drink and left because the other one was too pushy and not turned on my guy. We were tired after long flight but ladies if you are looking for companion and genuine experience I would opt for Suzie.
With regards to crowds. We enjoyed less smoking rude Chinese customers otherwise it is still lively place and no coronavirus hysteria.
Familiarity breeds contempt
I get a sense this goes beyond the dating market, that Thais in general respect Farang far less than 10-20 years ago. We have dropped a few rungs in the social hierarchy. In the past, Farang had a significant undeserved boost in status, right now we're about where we should be, but given the trend, I'm afraid in a few years we'll be too low for comfort, perhaps on par with where Indian men are today.
In an egalitarian society where casual racism is considered unacceptable, I wouldn't be too concerned. However, in a hierarchical place like Thailand, status matters way more than is immediately obvious.
I kind of agree, but I think it's also due to the sheer number of Farang's here now. 25 years ago, Sukhumvit Soi 55 was nothing but shop houses. You could walk the length and not see any foreigners. Last year, I swear, there were blocks when I didn't see any THAIS, and this was pre-virus. Walking down lower Sukhumvit 25 years ago, you passed a Thai girl (not P4 P, but civilian), smiled, and you got a smile in return. Now? Like any big, modern city, other people are just blobs of meat to go by as you're on the way somewhere. No eye contact, no smile, or at least a lot less. Don't want to fully blame mobile phones, but certainly less person to person. A number busy on their phones.
The times they are a'changing.
It rhymes with hysteria.
Sorry, I'm a bit thick, with no rhyming skills. Bit of help, please.
