But a bare minimum of 1-2 non Thai customers per week is still enough to get by in terms of food, rent, electric, phone and transportation for just about any P4P girl in Thailand.

However, there is no point in thinking they will turn into super quality sex providers when things finally get so bad they have to eat rotten fruit, bugs and scorpions. They ALREADY eat rotten (smelling) fruit, bugs and scorpions for the sheer pleasure of it even when their purses are loaded with cash!

Once Wednesday I gave a Nana gogo girl 3500 for an exceptional 4-hours and by Thursday afternoon she seemed truly desperate for money to pay for transportation, food, and 500 baht to replace her lost ID so she could work again in a Nana plaza bar. On a related note, as a foreign visitor, I'm willing to pay extra for premium service from a good looking girl. The 3500 baht I paid for an excellent 4-hour session seems cheap to me. "Near" home the best I can do is a 50 minute session at a top rated massage place 1400 km away from home and that costs over 8000 baht. Many visitors aren't going to pass on their Thai dream girl to save 1000 baht, our opportunities are too few. If we knew which girls were going to be stars and which were duds, the stars would never want for money and the duds would starve. There are still enough customers for that.

But there is a big grey area when it comes to sexual services that, by my reckoning at least, already start out at a deficit of value that could never knock my socks off. Therefore, I am willing to pay more if I get more. And if you do it right, you will definitely get better service by paying more.

I suppose the closest way of applying it to your analogy is the fellow sees what is on his plate at your recommended restaurant and says, "Oh, that will never do. But if you could add another slab of beef with a little gravy and toast that slice of bread a bit I'll gladly pay an additional $5."

Then if the restaurant increases the price of that meal by $5 for everyone without adding the extra portion of beef, gravy and toasting the bread, the fault lies with the restaurant, not the customer who paid more to get more.

However, again, paying the extra $5 for no reason at all and without demanding and getting more puts the customer at fault.

My problem with the "restaurants" in this neighborhood is the meals being routinely served are from the get-go sorely lacking in value for the money despite thousands of other diners apparently having their socks get knocked off by what they are being served. But with a little tweak here and there using ingredients I know for a fact are sitting mostly unused in the kitchem cupboard I can get that meal up to snuff with an additional amount added to the bill.

I only wish these "restaurants" would routinely serve a finished meal that by my judgement is well worth the money without my having to ask neither the server, manager, chef or owner of the damn place to prepare and present it that way. Would I pay more for that? Hell yes.

I suppose this is my way of chiming in that the real problem here is too few customers demanding more and better than what they are routinely being served in these "restaurants" at the price they are today, were yesterday and will be tomorrow. The extra $5 or even $20 is largely immaterial.

On my recently finished trip to Thailand, I had 2nd, 3rd, and 4th dinners at 3 different restaurants. The tip at the end of the first meal assures superior food on the subsequent visits. The bad part is that I will soon tire of any excellent restaurant, but the proprietors tend to pester me for additional meals again and again.

My last dinner in Thailand was to be simple street food, for which I agreed to pay 1000 baht for a specific menu. While eating, I found the food to be substandard and the menu was not provided per prior agreement. Mid meal, I decided not to finish the dinner, I simply could not swallow the food. I was forced to pay 500 baht to avoid a nasty scene upon exiting the dining room. Fortunately, I quickly found a different street food vendor who provided a nice meal with all the agreed menu items at 1200 baht, for which I was happy to pay. That was the last my last dinner in Thailand.

The best part about Sukhumvit is that there is always another restaurant to try.

What you demand is not typical; you have a peculiar bareback sex fetish that you keep talking about.

In Goatscrot's excellent restaurant analogy, you'd be the customer who asks to spit into the common stew pot since that gets you off and presumably adds to the flavor. Most restaurants would recoil in horror at the proposal, but sure enough, a few would let you do that for extra money, and no doubt it would make you happy. What's one spit in a big stew after all, it's relatively low risk and nobody has to know, though if everyone starts doing it, things change.

When you have a particular fetish that providers are strongly averse to providing, sure you might need to pay more to get what you want (after sifting through many who just won't do it).

However, in the general case, if you just want more-or-less standard service provided with a positive attitude, Goatscrot is right, you don't get more by paying more. Maybe you get a wider playing field, but almost never better service.
