There has also been an enormous fish kill in the fish pens in Lake Taal too and parts of Batangas (believed caused by dramatic temperature changes or leaking material from underground). My friend who lives in Tagaytay said that there is the most godawful stench all over the province at present.

Probably not the best place to plan a visit right now or for the next 3 to 4 weeks.

It's not just this past week. It's been active for some time now. An annual family reunion in Batangas of a GF was moved for the first time in 18 years and that was to commence May 20 because they were concerned of what was happening with the volcano.

My advice about bangus was not linked to my species preference but I must say I don't mind a home-cooked "boneless bangus" for breakfast because my chef does it just how I like it. However, I don't enjoy the regular bangus taste, just the boneless, smoked variety.
