Some people have had family from overseas send them masks. Situation is just pathetic, including healthcare providers not having the PPE they need to protect themselves from infection. The disposable N95 masks were $2. 00 each, but that is not what was recommended at the time for travelers. They had boxes of 50 ASTM level 2 masks for about $20, which is what I bought for my trip to Thailand.

The point is to protect others in case you are sick (and maybe don't know it). Your coughs and sneezes are kept more local if you are wearing something over your mouth and nose. Keep in mind that USA has an extreme shortage of masks and other medical PPE. The USA government is trying to maximize the good stuff for the medical professionals.

I bought it just before I left Frankfurt on 18 March arriving in a chaos that you guys won't imagine. Never took it off the entire trip except to drink water. The virus can be spread via saliva. If I were to relate everything I have done in the past month or two since the world became aware of the magnitude of this pandemic, someone might possibly conclude one can have no holds barred sharing and ingesting of precious bodily fluids to and from a dozen or more different partners, some of whom made their living interacting daily with coffee shop, restaurant or retail shop customers by the hundreds, some of whom were involved in the business of P4P, all right here in an area of Bangkok that is ground zero for international tourism without negative impact or incident for any of us or for anyone else we know and interact with personally right up to this day.
