The escort websites with their photoshopped pics are unreliable and they have a high turn over as few of them actually live in CTG.

I saw few gorgeous girls at Cafe Del Mar and wondered myself if they are working or not. I decided to ask the guys at the entrance. I chatted him up a bit, tipped him and started asking him questions. Most of the hotties I pointed out, at least that night, to my surprise were not working girls. One was and she was another dude. So, don't be shy in enquiring. I hope you post your experiences though.

I am thinking WTF the dude a little dumb or what? The Tout called himself the Majik Man or something like that and introduced himself to me and said he can get beautiful girls so I say where they at you got pics? He said here is one. The girl I had just seen sitting on bench near clock tower 10 minutes prior for 40k pesos but now she was on top floor she was getting 150k pesos or more so I guess the walk to the top floor made her high end? The working girls at Del Mar are very incognito, they stand by the bar alone around Midnight, hit and miss.

Recently spent the first two weeks of November in Cartagena. I'm sure that two weeks seems like a long time in Cartagena to many, but I had quite a bit planned. So the plan was: LDV, beach, scuba diving, beauty pageant events, meet up with friends, and meet / score with girls from the net. This was my third trip to Cartagena. Instead of giving a play-by-play, I will make a few comments that are hopefully helpful to someone.

LDV- Not a great selection during the week. Fairly good selection of girls on the weekend. This seems to be the norm in my experience. Prices were all over the place. Seemed like around 300k was the going rate for an all nighter. A couple of girls wouldn't budge from 500k, though I didn't try that hard to bargain with them. Even 300k is an insane amount to pay! That is like $175 USD! A few girls would take 100-150k for 2 hours. Attitudes ranged from shitty to sweet, or pretending to be sweet. LOL. One puta said that patrons are required to buy the girls drinks. I just laughed. As much as I can't stand a shitty attitude, it does make the hunt more enjoyable in a weird way.

Bar next to LDV- Was a bit apprehensive about this place because it looked like one of those places you get suckered into buying chicks expensive drinks! Drink prices are the same as LDV, and I actually did buy a girl a drink because she had a great attitude. This place is worth checking out. This wasn't a problem for me, but you do have to pay the bar up-front for the girl. They do have a fee of I think 30k to take the girl out.

Beauty Pageant- Didn't actually go to the final event at the convention center because tickets were sold out and I don't want to even think how much scalpers were going to charge. I did go to the Hilton for the swimsuit competition and it was a great experience. Was it worth $150? Hell yes! It wasn't a crazy party, but there were a LOT of people there and they had a salsa and reggaton performer. There were also 3 days of parades (desfiles) prior to the final event, and it was basically like mass disorder. I think the largest parade was the Batalla de las Flores. Basically everyone is drinking, spraying foam in your face, throwing firecrackers, and occasionally watching the parade. If you go, don't bring anything valuable. I brought a camera, and I am lucky I still have the camera! It was a fairly young crowd, but there were also quite a few families. It was a great time, but 2-3 days of chaos was enough for me!

Scuba diving- Didn't make the time to go, but have been to Rosario Islands a long time ago and the diving is pretty good.

Internet Chicas- First try was with Amor de Cartagena. Bought 15 e-mail addresses and got ZERO responses! I don't know if this place is a scam, but if your experience is even close to mine, it is not worth using.

Second try was with Colombian Cupid. The girls were a mixed bag: prepagos, girls with boyfriends (per their facebook. LOL) , regular girls, prepagos posing as regular girls. One of the prepagos was Mary Luz and she was a pain in the ass (see photo). She has a tight little body, but it wasn't worth it as she tried to extort 150k from me or else she would call the police. She needed the money for the university. Yeeeeeeeah whatever puta! And one of the girls I corresponded with was actually working the streets outside of Tu Candela! It was a classic meeting! A few of the girls I met were fun to hang out with but I didn't really have much interest with them besides hanging out. A couple of the girls seemed really sincere but I am apprehensive about their intentions because they are, at the very least, seeking someone for the purpose of leaving their country. I think someone posted recently about how you should be the fisherman and not the fish. Well, I couldn't agree more. It was an easy way to meet a large number of women, but you just don't know what you are going to get.

Beach- Was busy during the week, and even busier on Sunday. Seemed like a decent number of regular girls mixed in with the pros. Have to admit that sometimes it is hard to tell who is who. It's not like Rio where you definitely know who is working. Man, I sure miss Rio! Too bad it is $1, 400 for a ticket!

Misc thoughts-

Why is it that people either show up an hour or two late, or they sometimes don't even show up at all! Mostly had this problem with internet chicas, but even my Colombian friends tend to be late. Anyone have the same problem? I suspect it's cultural, but I don't remember it being so bad in previous trips. Because of this, I decided to take the approach that no plan is the best plan!

Seems like women in Cartagena tend to be players. Maybe my opinion is a bit jaded because I used Colombian Cupid or stayed in Laguito!

Friend of mine on vacation in Cartagena doesn't speak any Spanish and it was obvious he didn't have a very good time. I honestly would probably skip Colombia if I didn't speak any Spanish. You just miss so much culture, interaction, and entertainment if you don't speak the language! And non-pros. Forget about it!

Chicas working the street- Quite a few in front of the salsa bar that you will see when walking from Puerta de Reloj to Calle de Arsenal. Most are heinous, but there are a couple of decent ones. 30k short time includes room.

Regular Bars- Most days the bars weren't that busy because of all the beauty pageant events. It is so hard for me to accept, but you are usually better off if you bring your own girl to the bar. Lots of women go out with guy friends, boyfriends, or sometimes in a group of females. Either way, the odds of picking one up are against you. I have had some success with my so-so Spanish, but I generally don't have success. LOL.

Overall this was a great trip. Don't think I would visit during early November again, but it was a great experience and no regrets. I love going to the beach and el centro is awesome at night! Cartagena is one of my favorite places, but I have definitely lost some interest in Cartagena and other major Colombian cities since the gringo invasion. Colombia is still great, but it seems less adventureous and the people seem a bit less receptive to foreigners than in the past. Maybe this is the case with other countries in South America too? In fact, I think it's time to do some more adventureous exploring, maybe to some smaller inland cities in Colombia. I usually go after non-pros, so I think I'll be better off going to less traveled cities. In the meantime, I'll be studying Spanish!

By the way Amor de Cartegena is a scam for sure. Half those girls are working girls or are never available. Those guys are hustlers stay away.

I recently returned from my 3rd trip. As usual, I had a blast, in fact it may have been my best trip yet. Just when you think, ok I've done this place enough, time to move on. I realize I can't wait to go back! I met a few members from here down there, and everyone was having a blast. It goes to show that there really isn't any one / correct way to do this trip, some guys racking up a big # of girls, others hooking up with a few, then sticking with one. Whatever works for you, you can't go wrong.

I did the usual, day on the playa, dinner / nite in centro, with visits to LDV. Never made it to Elektra, thou the guys gave it great reviews. As guys have stated before, if you can speak spanish it will go a long, long way to making your trip successful, although if you can't (mine is very weak) in no way should you let that stop you from coming. You can still have a great time, but you will just have to work harder to find the ones you can make a special connection with.

I read on here how somebody took there girl to a high end restuarant. I must caution that, I took the girl I was hanging with, and although we had fun, it was quite obvious to others. A little embarrassing. Thou not sure for her thou, maybe only me. The volume of girls on the beach and LDV seemed a little lighter than last time, February, maybe just the time of the year. Rates were as previously stated. 150k beach girl. 250k todo noche. Leaving 11am.

Nothing new or exciting w / this report, just wanted to give back. Thanks for all the previous help.

Tried to negotiate wiht one brunette I liked, she would not go below 250 k short term.

Tried my best but she did not move from that price.

Went to another girl, a bit more friendly gal, but would not go below 200k short term.

I do not know if prices have changed, but when I went there a couple of months ago, it was possible to get 150k for short term, for 200k I got 3 hour sessions or all night no problem.

Perhaps it is the holiday season? Will try again sometime next week and will report.

Like I have been saying for the entire time I have been here, better to bring your chick to CTG for a romantic vacation than find action there.

Lots of girls working away from their home turf, trying to sock money away. High prices that lower the guard of already vulnerable-to-overspending tourists, both international and domestic. Lots of exposure to international tourists, meaning they know what we pay for things back home and charge accordingly. I could go on and on. I've always borderline hated CTG for mongering and never understood the people who swear LDV is such a great value or provides such great service. Never fancied the place, sorry.
