I must say that the quality of motels is quite good. The rooms are on par with a decent 3-4 star hotel room in a third-world country or better.

Actually, you don't even have to hunt around on websites to look for a reasonably clean and decent motel for as little as 30-40 US dollars a night; especially in Seoul.

Just decide which area you'll be staying around, and sure enough, you'll be able to find budget accommodations that have clean rooms and are reasonably comfortable. Motels are literally everywhere. Generally, for the busy areas (particularly around universities since so many people hang around those areas for partying) the prices will be more expensive; particularly on the weekends. So, if you're lookiing for a reasonable place, don't get one too close too those areas are you'll be unnecessarily paying a little more.

As examples of some areas that are pricier than average are around Shinchon, Hongdae and other big name universities. Besides those areas, rooms will be cheaper. However, on another note, even the rooms around the busy areas won't be so much more expensive except on the weekends when the rooms are (ahem) high occupancy.

Yes, I'd meet the girls during their off days rather than their off hours since the girls usually have accommodations at their workplace. They usually sleep and live at the place where they work but not always.

The phrase asked about in the original post actually was "cutting time", and it essentially means spending unpaid time with the girl - a problem for the reasons that Z goes on to describe - which actually are often more serious than he suggests.

The mamasans generally are not a real problem. If the girl works in a joint that is really controlled by a mamasan, then she may still be willing to see you outside, depending on her degree of independence from the boss - a function of her status as an earner and/or her indebdtness to the mamasan, if any, and the mamasan's power to enforce, which is generally limited to firing the reclacitrant (which again they are not likely to do in the case of a good earner, whom they are likely to permit to date and even earn on her own outside normal working hours.

Hi,

I will be traveling for the first time to Korea and will be in the Bundang-gu area on business for 3-4 days.

I have RTFF, extensively, but I don't have a clue with regards this area and if there is any action nearby.

A few questions:

1. Does the Bundang-gu are have any potential for mongering? If so any suggestions on hotel, massage, bars etc greatly appreciated. I obviously speak no Korean and will be on my own

2. If not, I am fairly savvy with navigating in other parts of the world and could probably handle any sort of mass transit, would you have any suggestions as to an area nearby where I should stay to increase my chances for fun, and still be accessible to the Bundang-gu are for work.

I was in Seoul for business and was looking for some action. I stayed at the Imperial Palace hotel and the hotel was excellent in regard to services may a bit flashy. I read through the ISG forums and did not have that much hope. Mainly for two reasons, I’m a foreigner with dark skin and for the second I only was there for two nights. Long time lurker here. First time poster. Just got back from a nice experience at Belle.

First, the idiot-proof directions (already posted in the forum in a few places, but once more for prosperity doesn't hurt).
