Last J I had was about 20 years also. The munchies were fun, and once ate 2. 5 roasted chickens after a heavy smoking session, but thankfully its all long since past.

Started off at the Martini Bar. $3 ride from the hotel Flamingo to the Bar and that is for three of us. A little early. 9:40pm. We sat down and ordered drinks. Then the bus got there I guess. You and your mates might want to hook up with a girl before New Years and even take a trip with her to the countryside during the holidays, learn a little more about Cambodian Culture and K'mai (Cambodian) people love to drink, eat and party. Hello everyone!

As an American who has made a few trips to Thailand and the Philippines over the years, I am making my first trip out to Phnom Penh. I am definitely more of a budget traveler and was wondering if you guys could recommend a few good places to stay that is within reasonable distance of the action and affordably priced. I am not really looking for any bells and whistles, such as a pool, hot tub, etc, but just a place that is clean, safe, has a good reputation (I. E, not out to rip off foreigners). The one thing that might be nice (but not required) would be wifi.

Also a few other quick questions:

- At the airport is it safe to take any of the cabs and just direct them towards my hotel? Is there anything else I should know to prevent getting ripped off? I believe the fare should be about $10 USD?

- Should I bring USD or will I be able to reasonably obtain cash from debit cards and ATM machines there? If I bring USD, where would I / should I be converting the money to KHR?

- Is there anything else that I should be very aware of for safety or to prevent getting grossly ripped off (I mean hundreds or thousands, not a few dollars here and there)? I've traveled around and am reasonably street smart, but just want to make sure I have my bases covered.

Sorry for all of my newbie questions! Any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated!
