I can't prove it's true, but a seasoned freelancer at the old LA Cafe (Now MBC) insisted she'd gotten sick from a mixed drink at LAC and believed they were using unfiltered water for the ice. I always ask about the ice, and if the place seems a little dodgy, like MBC, I take only bottled beverages or ask for no ice.

I just left the Phils and, against my better judgment, had a garden salad in an Aussie-owned place the night before I left. It now appears it was a big mistake. I had managed to avoid any such ailment for nearly three weeks. It's tempting to see if my body can fight it down-and maybe thereby build up some immunity, but I do need to be able to function on a daily basis so will probably end up getting some cipro or something similar.

Another trap is chow king, every time I get hit with food poison it is after I have eaten at chow king. I have no idea why I keep eating there.

[/QUOTE]These are certainly the main causes of catching "it". Even if the ice is made from sterilized water it all depends what happens afterwards. On a holiday in the Caribbean my two friends came back to the hotel early morning. The ice, made no doubt from good water and packed in cartons, had been deposited outside the hotel, they told me later. Dogs walking passed pissed on the boxes! And if the ice is put in the glass by hands not washed? And once in Manila I walked around and had to have a leak. There was a nice hotel and I walked in. I couldn't find the washroom so I asked an employee. I followed the instructions and when I walked into the washroom I was stunned. Smell, dirty, no soap, etc. It was awful. When I walked out I looked back and saw that is was the washroom for employees! So much for that. Once on Boracay (1991) I had ordered a bottle of water with dinner. The waitress came back and opened the bottle. When I drank the water I smelled the chlorine. Tapwater. But how was that possible? She had opened the bottle by pulling the strip at the table. I looked and saw that the plastic was cut with a knife, obviously for another customer. Then everything was put together again after filling the bottle with tapwater. At the table she pulled the strip (and left it there and I could inspect it) : a smooth cut on one side; the other side was rough as it is when you pull it open and not cut it. You simply cannot trust anything. It's hard to stay clear of it but if symptons develop you should ALWAYS go and see a doctor. No self-medication.

An addition to my previous posting: 400 million (!) people in the tropics are estimated by the WHO to have an amoeba infection.

It is the second most deadly infection after malaria. Just remember.

And talking about "rimming". Those guys must be absolutely mad. If that isn't asking for trouble then I don't know what is.

My first visit to AC will take place next month although I have been a frequent visitor to the country over the last few years. I am looking forward to posting about my AC experiences later next month. However my guess is that the bar girls are like the bar girls anywhere else in the country and that their primary concern will always be the size of your wallet and your generosity. All other factors are secondary.

As for the GFE then that is more difficult, since you need to rely on intuition and the girl's attitude before you bar fine her. My advice is to be very very clear about what you expect from the girl, BEFORE you bar fine her and even then that is no guarantee that you will get the performance you desire. I will be intrigued to see what some of the AC veterans think?

IMHO I don't think your physical attributes play a significant role in any encounter you have with professional girls although it is always good for one's ego to be told how handsome you are.

To be honest from my own personal experience, being presentable and clean are far more important to a bar girl together with a good attitude, than your looks. Your capacity to pay is by far the most important issue to them, above anything else.

It can be "in" the lettuce itself. That is why they warn people to only eat cooked vegetables in third world countries.
