If you want to go to a booking club, I suggest you go with 3 Korean friends. If you're the only foreigner there, you chance having a better time. Also, rent the room. Always rent the room if you go. The added privacy helps with the self-conscious girls who would otherwise shy from a table of foreigners.

Been there. Done that. Waste of time and money. For the same money, more or less, you're better off at a BCD-style room salon where round one is more interesting than anything in a booking club and round 2 is a slam dunk.

Thanks for these excellant arguments against booking clubs Inrok. You've obviously given it some thought, been there and done a few. Sadly, I'm still a Korean guy or two shy of the 3 recommended.

Good thing, too, I awake ever day optimistic and patient.

They're called? (gwan gwang) and? (sung in) nitghtclubs and the price for a table is around 40, 000 won and you get 2-3 bottles of beer and a plate of fruit. Chances of success are probably pretty low, but it's cheap and could be an interesting experience. FYI any place that is a night or a nightclub will have booking. Nightclubs that are in or next to hotels also might be a good idea.

I'm afraid I can't help much if you're asking about booking clubs; it's been a long time since I've bee, I was taken by Korean friends and the only one the name of which I still remember I know no longer exists.

Otherwise, it's the usual: better hotel bars and clubs (e.g., JJ's at the Hyatt); but - as you know - that's all hit or miss, time-consuming and often as expensive as even the highest-priced P4P spread.

I'm going to keep an open mind towards then venues as I try and muster up a cohort of Korean friends to take me there.

tourist hotels. i don't mean for foreign tourists, i mean for korean tourists when they bus around the country.

they can be found under several different signs (if you read hangeul; they wont be in english): gwan-gwang hotel, gwan-gwang night, or cabaret... basically nightclubs for the over-35 crowd, and often older than that. the cabarets usually have live entertainment for the older crowd (bbong-jak music mostly, or trot) and you can see flyers around town for the cabarets advertising who will be there that week, usually 4-6 different singers.

if the singers advertised are the flavor-of-the-month pop singers in korea, that will be a booking nightclub. if the singers advertised look older and you don't recognize them or their names, that will be a cabaret.

i don't go to the cabarets, mainly because i can't stand bbong-jak music, or trot, but i have had success with the divorcee crowd at a "night". most of the time they approached me, usually in a group, and we let the liquor run wild. end of the night is usually a slamdunk with at least one of them, if that's your game.

the only ones i went to with any regularity were way up in nowon-gu, but that was years ago. there are a bunch of cabarets in the jongro and hongje areas. haven't been to a "night" recently, but they're all over town. you just have to keep your eyes peeled for the (hangeul) signs.

:-) Not likely. I've had a few "older" (40ish) Koreans, and I've been to a cabaret and can even do a fair simulacram of the trot dance, but the women have been too needy, too clingy and needed a lot of high octane prep - all of which are turn-offs for me - not to mention that very, very few qualify for "momja" status. Hence, my not having mentioned this option before myself; I guess I need to get beyond my own predilictions in order to be the perfect contributor. LOL.

Anyway, I'd be happy to knock back a few with you - bokbunja or the poison of your choice - so you can prime the pump before you venture into one of these. I seems like that may be the only way to meet, as all suggestions about a collective mongering outing seem to be falling on mostly deaf ears.

Just a quick question on getting checked up on STDs. This will be the first time I will be getting checked up. I'm just wondering, but when is the best time to get checked up on STDs after sex (at a RLD of course).

I heard about the International Clinic at Itaewon and thought I should check out. Although I'm Korean American and a bit fluent with the language, I'm more comfortable with English.

I checked the website and I'm clueless on the STD screening. There's something with STD panels 1-7, consisted of Panels 1 & 2, Premarital & Preintimate screening, and Noninvasive screening. Which one am I suppose to choose? I just wanna get checked for every STDs and HIV.

Also, how long does it take for me to get the results back?

Just make an appointment and when you see Dr. Kim, who's a good guy, straight shooter, tell him you want std screening. If you don't want to reveal the real reason, just say it's in connection with your upcoming first time with your fiance. HIV and syphilis testing means getting blood drawn. You probably don't really need to have anything else checked unless it's been more than a week since your last outing and you've got the "drips" - and he'll probably tell you that - but if you want to go ahead anyway, just say the girlfriend wants the full cleveland. I can do it for a night. Give the lady a night she'll enjoy and treat her the way she wants. But longer than that, and it becomes tiresome quickly. She can be needy and clingy all she wants for a night, as long as she doesn't know my address or phone number at the end of it. Been down THAT road before and don't exactly want a repeat...

Depends on which Night you go to. Some cater to those who are older, yet still relatively young (35-ish), and some cater to 45- and 50-year olds. Ya gots ta know where you're going.

And while you're right about the "mom-jjang"-ness, or lack thereof of many ladies in these places, there are usually enough there to weed out the ones you're not interested in, and be left with a few nice divorcees to choose from.

Belle. Seems busier than ever. If you go at peak times it is often full. But, I have noticed quality of girls has deteriorated and they are definitely shortening time to increase turnover. Some current girls (one tall and good looking girl there is so mechanical, total turn off. In fact she keeps changing her name). But something about belle keeps me going back after a while. Price is 70.

Cool. New management apparently. And they seem to have adopted a 100% no service to foreigners policy. Downright rude and racist. Always overrated and overpriced (75) anyway as reviewed by others on the forum.

Angel. Also new staff, and again totally changed to anti-foreigner. Previous management was so nice. Too bad. Price (was) 65.

Now for some good news.

VIP massage at Coex. Several consistent good experiences there of typical barber shop type massage but girls are usually tall, young and very sexy dressed. Price 80.

Double pole barber shop just north of VIP. Older women there and no real communication but talented and very focused on erotic massage with little real massage. Price 70.

Double pole barber shop 5 minutes walk from belle/cool area (going west) gives friendly service, full service followed by massage. Older providers of course but good service and price is 80.

Koreana sporex. Passed by recently. Same basic but reliable service. Girl spoke a little bit of english and was very friendly. As reviewed before expensive at 120 but includes sauna/pool then really deep and strong massage. Definitely feel better after leaving here.

For those of us who miss ZEST. Can someone with relevant info please post name/location of similar places. That would be much appreciated.

Of course any recommendations of good massage/finish places always welcome.
