Part 4 – Kuala Lumpur

I flew into Kuala Lumpur’s new airport about 7pm on Sunday night and it seemed to take forever to get out of there. Slow shuttle to the main terminal, slow immigration, bags delayed, line up to buy a taxi coupon, and finally getting some cash out of the ATM. Hop into the taxi and it is a 55 km trip into the Shangri-La Hotel.

So I finally check in to the hotel around 9 pm and within 15 minutes I am standing outside the Beach Club, which is a nightclub with a live band. It is directly across the street from the Shangri-La, just cross the main street Jalan Sultan Ismail at the traffic light and Beach Club is the second building on the left side of the street. It’s not especially big and it is packed with people, equal numbers of men and ladies. It seemed that all of the ladies in there were freelancers/working girls, although there might have been a few civilians in the mix.

I was hungry so I sat at a table right near the sidewalk and ordered a pizza and beer. There were lots of girls working the sidewalk so a few of them came over and asked to sit down with me. I wanted to see what was on offer so I declined their offers. But one of them was more persuasive than the others so I let her sit down to join me. She was an older lady and had really plastered on the makeup. She was Vietnamese and pretty cute despite her age (don’t forget, I’m an old coot with low standards). We chatted despite the blaring music. After the meal she got down to business and made me an offer. 400 Malaysian Ringgit (about $130 dollars or 4000 baht) for short time (2 hours) or long time (overnight). Up to me. I told her I’d think about it but she wouldn’t take that for an answer and kept pressing to close the deal. After a few minutes I told her I was going to wander around the club for a while which made her mad. I saw her about five times after that and she glared at me each time (I think she was stalking me).

I wandered around and stopped to chat with a few of the girls. Every one was Vietnamese. I thought I would meet a few Filipinas, Indonesians, or Chinese (based on my reading the Forum) but didn’t meet any. Maybe they’re not as aggressive as the Vietnamese. Part 5 – Kuala Lumpur

My second day in Kuala Lumpur I spent most of the day in business meetings but by 5:30 I was free ! I decided to have a walkabout so I headed down towards the KL Plaza (shopping mall) where previous reports had mentioned a spa called “Sky River” where extras were available. This mall is being gutted for renovation and there was no sign of the Sky River.

By 9:30 I was anxious to re-visit the Beach Club so I walked over there (see Part 4 for more info). I stayed ‘til 1:00 am enjoying the band (Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, etc cover band……quite good !) and all the attention from the ladies. The previous night I had only met Vietnamese but on this night I met half a dozen Filipinas and a couple of black girls. I love Filipinas (had a lot of girlfriends back home) and they were young, cute, and friendly. I was low on cash and power so I didn’t take any of them home but there were four that I would happily have paid for. Maybe tonight.

The joint was really jumping, I thought there would be a tapering off from Sunday to Monday night but in fact I think there were even more men this time. I was quoted the same asking price (400 RM) but depending on the girl’s mood, time of night, and your negotiating skills, a lower price is surely possible.

Heading back to the Shangri-La there were about half a dozen ladyboys on the sidewalk, apparently they are not allowed in so they hang around waiting for the guys to come out. Hello everyone and greetings from the states.

I am thinking about making a last minute trip to Malaysia. Unfortunately I only have 8 days to spare in beautiful Malaysia. But wanted to get your thoughts on what I should do while in Malaysia. Can anyone recommend a good itinerary? I am not too interested in the big city. Would rather spend time on the beach or nature. Dont want to be rushed, but would like to see as much as possible.

Regarding Mongering - how safe is it in Malay? I understand the country is somewhat conservative. But is it as easy/open as Thailand or Vietnam? Anything I need to be concern about. I have mongered in US, Euro, Thai.. but am always a little scared about getting into trouble with law or gangs. Dont mind paying a little more to get good, safe service.
