Fantasy - Thanks for the update. I will be in Sosua for the first time 2nd week of January. I made a reservation at the Europa but wasn't asked to give a credit card number. I assume it won't be really busy there right after Christmas.
Forget it. The Europa will ***** out your room and you will be left standing with your suitcases and they won't even apologize. They couldn't care less if you have a reservation or not, if someone comes to the front desk to buy a room, they sell it. If you show up with a reservation, they say they don't have it.
Fantasy, again. Jazz and I will be there on the 5th. We need an oltimers party!
Yes. When you have confirmed reservstion have them e mail you confirmation. Print it out and take it with you. All the times I have stayed there I had to show them proof of reservation.

There are numerous small hotels that you can stay. The best is to pay in US $. You get a small discount and you won't get screwed on the credit card exchange rate.
Other hotels are The New Garden, on Dr. Rosen & Hotel Residential, just up the street from the Europa. Both chica friendly and about the same price as The Europa.
Well I met up with some old aquaintences at the bar below the disco including Tampa B and the Merchant Marine!! J and I had several options brewing when my phone rang with an old time favorita. Seems as though her and her new roomate wanted to come over from Puerto Plata for a pajama party. So I never made it upstairs to the disco. But I will get an update from the guys and post.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that the bottom does not drop out on this good run as we approach Faliz Navidad! Those of you who know me well know that it is safe to say that I am very Picky. If Fantasy is happy with the present Quality it is more than a safe bet that most of you will be. But this can change in a minute as you long time sosua expats can verify.
I am planning a holiday party with some very special "Fantasies" planned. I will post details in the next few days. Of course all of you will be welcome, and will only be expected to bring your imagination. With my retirement coming in 2007, and my enormous latin american project with my partner (Ford from this Board), this will most likely be my final winter in the Dominican Republic. I look forward to telling all of you about our project we call "Club Paradise", in the upcoming months.
Pictures of the pajama party to follow, but don't expect to see any pajamas!!

Fantasy I really like your postings. Excellent work. Thanks for all the contributions.
Not as strong as I would have liked. Alot of illegal immigrants (if you know what I mean) from the other side of the island moved in. But I still think everyone could have found happiness with a little effort. The curfew has brought the rising price oF Ass to a hault. Great prices can be had a half hour before closing. I will try to keep you guys who are trying to decide on a holiday trip or not posted on the latest. Club X reopened. This makes four active discos in town, plus all the make believe discos on every corner. With the curfew, and the different locations it is fun just to watch these girls jump around trying to make the right play. Also I have found that many of the Bartenders head for the casino directly after work to spend all their tips. So this is now a real option for hunting after all else closes..................
The rates are cheaper for a 4 night stay than a 1 night stay. Also, if you pay in cash they give you a small discount. The security there is decent. They have cameras at the entrances and at different places at the hotel. They also have a security guard carrying a shotgun at night. I found the personnel there helpful. Also, if you run into any problems, they will try to help you. The safe they have is a numbered security safe instead of a key. It makes it a little safer than regular safes I saw at other hotels.

When I was at Classicos and Latinos I saw mostly black women. I don't have anything against this. I saw only a few caucasian or light skinned women (I'm assuming 2-3%). I'm not sure if this helps anyone. I'm not into black women too much, some of them there had amazing bodies though. When I went into these clubs I could hardly find something that I would be interested in.

Santiago has a higher density of lighter skinned women... but this is the DR - not many women of European descent working the streets... they are part of the families that have money.
Looking forward to my first trip January 18th. One question I haven't been able to answer in my searching:
I'm flying in on the Jet Blue redeye to Santiago. Is there a bus to get to Sosua? I've seen references to Caribe Tours, but don't know if they have buses from Santiago to Sosua.

The late night means cab or an overnight in Santiago... buses don't run that late.
Skatman:
You're going to spend the night in a deserted airport in Santiago. Around 7-8 AM, you'll be able to get a taxi to Caribetours (don't pay more than 500 pesos - verify this before you take the taxi). The bus to Sosua is cheap.
The bus stop is in Charamicos - you'll need a taxi or a motoconcho for the short ride into Sosua.
Assuming you mean the flight that lands about 4:35am; by the time you clear customs and get your luggage it'll be after 5:00am. Get a cab to the caribe tours and catch the 6:00am bus. You'll be in Sosua in time for a late breakfast at Rocky's :)
