It began when choosing at mid day to recce the showroom (as they call them in Solo) mentioned by Sipeko Bach in 2011 (Post #427) in a Gang within a road just off Jl Slamet Riyadi on the opposite side of the road from the Grand Mall. Found the yellow sign, now actually written as "De Solo : Hotel, Restaurant, Meeting room" though.
However, just visible under this new lettering was the old wording "Solo Boutique Hotel" which indicated that this was the right road mentioned in Sipeko Bach's report, with the alley just after entering. For map reference, that road just off Jl. Slamet Riyadi on the opposite side of the road where the Grand Mall is, is Jl. Dr Sutomo, and the alley runs between both Jl. Dr Sutomo and Jl. Dr Cipto / Jl. Cipto Mangunkusomo (the alley entrance from that side has distinctive political graffiti).
Once in Jl. Dr Sutomo, continuing straight takes you up to Mall Solo Paragon, the best one in town (IMO).
Inside, there is a comfortable Cafe (Eli Cafe, Ground Floor) with sofas & WI-FI.
Anyway, went down the road (Jl. Dr Sutomo) and turned first right as reported.
Getting to the point (long story) , the showroom in this alley has closed down.
According to local Boys, there once 'was' a showroom in that alley (they pointed to an entrance) but it had "moved". Skipping to the evening for a moment, my taxi driver stopped here first (LOL) entering the alley from the Jalan Dr Cipto end, with all its distinctive graffiti. He got the same result, indicating that it was the right alley and that this must have been the favoured first stop for Becak and Taxi drivers at one time, as he seemed genuinally surprised it was shut down. Back to day time.
Once this scuppered things, a local Boy invited me to get on his Ojek as he knew other places where Girls could be found. Judging books by their cover, some of the salons / spas look like they may be legitimate though, such as (for example)"Orchids's Day Spa and Beauty Salon" north of Senggigi Square which 'appears' like it caters more to Women. Walking past that place several times during my stay, none of the staff said a word even at night. Much further down the kilometres long road, the isolated Spas look far more 'dodgy' to me, with pouting women on big signs, rather than the 'relaxed' women on some Spa signs. Others places seemed not to have Girls outside, so it was a gamble what you'd encounter once you walked in. Only spas further down the alleys into the darker areas towards the beach had Girls outside who called "Massaaage?".
None caught my eye though, so it was a second visit to Indi that night and couldn't wait to get inside that warm snatch again once more before leaving. Evening time the square was a little different, and active. Room 01 is at the back and there is a stairwell next to it for easy access to the floors below. BONUS! You also receive 2 hours free karaoke for each night.

However, I then found Jalan 'Sambeng' (not Sembang) on the map, in a familiar looking area of the map.
On the night, it is possible that I scribbled the name down incorrectly on my pad.

Went three times to hotel Arjuna, mentioned by coconut cream. Twice a success, third a disaster.
Easy to find. Go to Balapan station. Walk a few blocks east on the same side of the road and there is the sigpost hotel Arjuna, to your left, just before the Pertamina station.
The hotel is large and a bit shabby. When I entered a room the first time, the rats just decided to leave the room. The bed bugs were sent away by an attendant carrying insect spray.

So I had a few days in malang. I heard it was a university city so there must be plenty of girls. I just hoped the working ones were not relocated to surabaya.

After 23:00 I tryed the inhouse massage organized by the bellboy: an older woman mid 40s with quite decent english came by. Offered a HJ. She was nice and enjoyable and seems to do almost all hotels in the area after midnight. So chances are pretty high you will get her if you do an after midnight call.
So I went to the nightclub in the hotel. I noticed a lot of 9/10 at there karaoke facility but decided to first go and see what the club had to offer. It was Saturday and the club was quite full. I noticed a lot of univesity girls with friends and a lot of promo dancing girls sitting with customers. A sort of mamasan seemed to put them there. Only setback is that it seems you need to order a 1 m IDR bottle of whisky before you get any attention. The club is almost every day active except Sunday evening with dance and model shows. The 2nd night I invited a dancer over. Every 10 mins she ordered something which was to fast for my liking and she still had some performances to give so I let it go. Luckily I met a freebie who dragged me on the dancefloor. It payed off I refused two drunk 7's who studied in germany and came back to visit their family. The other (egyptian?) guys who studied in Malang and joined her and her friend didn't seem to happy so we exchanged numbers when she left. She came over the day after. Unlucky for me her friend works at the karoake and she brought her for an initial drink. So I could not try the karaoke anymore. 22 years old. 8/10 face and almost the biggest boobs I have ever seen on a rather skinny indonesian girl. I had a great night. Took me a while convincing her, but she couldn't resisit anymore the moment we were saying goodbye and stayed over for the night.
As I had some daytime connections I could not explore much in the day. Also malang is difficult to go around if you prefer taxi's, taxi's do not drive around and are on call only (plenty though). It took me a while to get a motorbike of my own to explore. If you look for massage parlours you are out of luck. Because you will not find any in malang city. They exist but they are all hidden. Some guy I met in the hotel proposed to bring me to one and after go eat at his family place. Nice guys but it felt uncomfortable and by the time I was convinced I did not had the time anymore. They call the massage places "blinded window" and apparently BJ seems to be the standard. No FS. Malang seems to be full of them, but if you do not know where they are you will not find them. Locals use them a lot but hotel reception do not seem to want to point out where they are. Perhaps they count on their karaoke. The karaoke costs 600k for 3 hours and 300k for a lady companion. You can take her home but you need to renegotiate on the price.
If you do not have connections or do not know the language or have the time to search; and want to try massage parlours you should go to Batu. It has a lot of arab residents so. Massage extra is offered on the street close to Batu Night Spectacular, which is an evening entertainement park very close to jatim park 1 and 2 (day entertainment with zoo). As I was with company I could not check it out. It is on jalan raya oro oro ombo in batu. Batu is only 30min-1hour from malang city center by bike or car. BNS is located just south-east of jatim park 2 (look for Batu night spectactular / cinema4d / bank Bri on google maps). This street is supposed to have a lot of possibilities.
The only pijat I saw was "pijat shinta traditional" located equal distance from Batu and Malang on jalan IR soekarno (the main connection between batu and malan). Type: Pijat Tradisional Shinta, Mojorejo, East Java, Indonesia; in google maps. It was 17:00 pm and all seemed closed except for a small house connected to it. Perhaps this is the entrance. .
Another pijat is located on the main street from malang to surabaya in Lawang. Not far before Kebun Raya Purwodadi (botanical garden) you will notice a lot of army barracks at the right side. Opposit of them you will see a big pijat sign. It did not seem active either.
So my conclusion for 3 days malang. Massage places with extra are very difficult to find if you do not have much time and if your bahasa is limited. Try to find the hidden ones with a local guy and BJ only is supposed to be expected. Please post an adress if you succeed where I have failed. Otherwise head over to Batu as their they seem to be openly allowed. Most easy option to get laid would be the night club in kartika graha which is on the expensive side thought I only saw stunning girls, not a single bad-looker around.
There should be freebies enough but other then many restaurants malang does not seem to have many places to meet. Also people tend to keep a little distance compared to other citys in indonesia. Pizza hut girls and hotel reception girls (which normally never works if you stay in the same hotel and your time is short) were interested.
Places to go out to meet people:
- MyWay club in kartika graha hotel.
- Hugo's club (same name as ik yogya). Taxi's know the way. You will not find it if you look for yourselve.
- De Liv cafe (jalan semeru). Restaurant and bar where the more trendy hang out.
- A small 3 floor bar which in the weekend should be full of ladys (corner of jalan semeru and jalan jenderal basuki rahmat) , look for the bikes outside. Local guys seem to find the local girls difficult to approach so guys go drink on the roof, girls at the tables on the 2nd floor.
I think malang is a great place to live as it is quite, clean and is full of young university girls, but rather difficult if you are non experienced and stay shorter then 1 week. Good luck! I did not give much information but hope others can add, I will certainly go back as I like the challenge.
