P.S. If I had to guess, I'd say you're British. Only Brits refer to all Americans as "Yankees" or Yanks, even those of us from the south!

ooo, its beginning to sound like some of the threads from central america here with all the passport bitching going on, oh what fun. check out the cost rica thread from a couple of months ago for some serious handgags flying. anyway, i personally don't give a shit where anyone comes from but i do like my girl prc for the most part.
anyway, girl......for the most part a very quiet time for the last month of so due to gf being over for a visit. i did get out to metro a couple of times to see princess l and visit her at a well know chinese hotel for some daytime fun but that was about it. news on the prc grapevine is there was a samll scale purge recently with about 70 to 80 prc rounded up for a small period of detention. their view was this had also impacted the punter population and client numbers are down so they are finding it a bit tough. it also seems that metro has adopted a hard line policy in not letting any girls in before 9pm, god know why because they chuck them all out at 9pm anyway to get their wrist bands so they only lose some bar revenue. the powers that be are fickly indeed!
gf has gone back home now though so have licence for fun, or so i thought. no sooner had the sheets gone cold than princess l installed herself. what hope do i have? oh well, at least she give top notch bbbj so i just lay back to think of.......the homeland!
i'm looking forward to getting out a bit at the weekend though and enjoying some of the local (multi)culture dxb has to offer, promise decent report afterwards.

Changing the subject: I am coming to Dubai next month and also have some business in Abu Dhabi, an opportunity to try the WG scene there for the first time. I would rather not rent a car. What is the best way to get from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back? Is there a bus or shuttle service? Thank you.
Have been in Dubai for some years now and been in the mongering scene until the wife moved here. In the meantime have been busy with MP's in Dubai some of which closed down with the recent crackdown. Anyhow the wife will be gone on her annual holiday and this time around I am not going along - intentionally planned.
The plan is to visit Rattlesnake, York, Seaview, Kubu and Rockfellers. Will keep posting soon on my travails. Lessons learned in the past and firmly etched in my mind are:
1. No beer googles
2. No drunk women
3. Pay after
4. Collect numbers for nights when not in the mood to go hunting and looking for home delivery or day time action
5. Take some pics
Anyhow just wanted to know with the recent crack down, does one need to be extra cautious in taxis with the girls or is it business as usual like in the past (which for me was 2006).

If I remember it right Mr Piper has mention this earlier in this thread when he was supposed to travel to Abu Dhabi for a business meeting and some evening mongering :D

I am in DBX at a hotel called the Splendid Apartments HOtel. Across from the Lamcy Mall. It appears that the hotel may not be GF. I have this dying itch I have to scratch. But alas! I am a bit at a loss. No one to talk to. All by myself. I read about the "raids " and am a bit nervous about where to go or what to do now. I could use a little help s if you can. I'd really appreciate a pm.

There are several options you could consider depending on your travel budget:
- Dubai Taxi – about AED 250-300 each way (for that money I'd prefer to rent a car)
- Abu Dhabi based Al Ghazal Express (see link below) - AED 150 from DXB to AUH (read report for more details) - Metered ( more expensive) on the return.
- Al Ghazal Bus (small) from central bus station (Al Ghubaibah) in Deira (near gold souk) every hour until 2100 - about AED 15 each way. Goes to central bus station on 4th st in AUH.
- AUH Gold and White cab –a bit grubby and fetid, metered but still cheap (return journey only)
- Emirates Express bus (large) from Al Ghubaibah station to Abu Dhabi central (don’t know price as I’ve never taken it but assume it to be cheap).

Yes, I ended up taking a cab each way. The bus-stops were too inconvenient. There is a stop somewhere near Trade Centre, but I couldn't be bothered taking a cab there, then a bus, etc. I pre-booked a cab as per GS advice - 150DH to AD, 200DH back to Dubai (fixed price, no meter).
