Was thinking about that Poblado area mainly due to Parque Lleras, but after reading more about that place, I'm not really interested in paying the prices the women charge there, so now I am fine with staying in Laureles area instead. Unless I misread something, it looks like Laureles has a park as well. Don't know if similar to Parque Lleras. Still reading and studying.

The Tall Man.[/QUOTE]One advantage of New Life, for someone who is uncertain about how much time they want to spend, is you pay after, for however long you were in the room. Most of the other casas you pay up front for a specific time. It would suck to pay for 3 hours and it turns out the girl isn't someone you want to spend that much time with. At New Life you can get away from a dud after 30 minutes, or stay with a star for as long as you want.

Anywho, it had more putas hanging out at the entrance and spilling down the stairs than any other hotel I saw there today, albeit it was a Sunday. I think generally, floors 7 and below are around 30 USD. The higher ones are like 40 to 50 usd. Just an approximation based on my observations.
A couple of wrongs turned out right today. First of all I would not have not gone out to El Centro if I knew it was a Sunday, but I thought it was a Saturday. Once I saw all the storefronts closed I sort of figured it out. The right was that it became a fantastic day.

Kit's easy to slip in to the corrosive mentality of thinking everyone in El Centro is a thief, but the reality is that 99.9% of people there are as honest as you or I. But if you want to be extra cautious, you could start by frequenting the bars on Cra 53. These bars have girls working in them and its the closest thing to a "bar girl" scene like you have in Thailand etc. In these bars, you have an extra degree of safety from thieves. Hope that helps.

That stays in my safe. On the streets in a foreign country, I carry a phone that I wouldn't give a shit about losing like the unlocked Samsung S6 that I purchased off of ebay for 45 bucks last year. Works perfectly. Bought that and as usual will get a local sim card when in town and I'm good. If stolen (which likely won't happen), so what. The phone cost 45 bucks and the most I'll lose is some phone numbers and x-rated pictures.

Anti noise windows. You can look up the available rooms on arbnb. Don't ask the desk for which are the quiet rooms. They will give you a room that is supposed to be quiet and act surprised to find out from you that they are intolerable to sleep. If you are unsure, do not book multiple nights as I know people were complaining that they won't give a refund.
Go to arbnb check for anti noise windows and read the reviews.
