I just joined this site so want to contribute if I can. I think this is the right place for trip reports so here you go!

Travel:

Caught the 6 am Copa flight direct non-stop from New Orleans to Panama City Sat 12.26. Lot of people at the airport at 4:30 am the day after Christmas!! Awesome airline, what I remember most of them to be before all of the 'fees' added on. In flight meal that morning & on the 6:30 pm flight back Wed 12.30. They also had a lounge in the New Orleans airport with coffee, bottled water, fruits, yogurt, etc. Very nice. There was no such lounge in PTY coming back. Had a driver set up by Robin, owner of the Air BNB apt I rented, waiting for me so that was a welcome sight. 30 min into town & I was at the apt settled in by 11:30 am Door to door – 8 ½ hours. Not bad! It's just the 1:45 am Wake up & 2 hour drive to and. O. Killed me. Flight was $560 whereas United wanted $1100+ LFT-IAH-PTY. F-United!

Money exchange:

One thing that apparently everyone else forgot to mention or just thought was common knowledge is. There is no money exchange! The USD rules, everyone takes them & gives them in change. The only Panamanian money I saw was a 50,25 & 5 cent piece. US pennies were on the ground everywhere I went. The quarters & nickel were the same size & thickness as their US counterparts. The USD was worth. Well. 1 USD!!

Apartment:

The AirBNB apt I rented was directly behind the Marriott, literally a 3 min walk once on the ground floor of the 8 floor apt. I could see the Marriott pool from the breezeway of the 8th floor. The Veneto was about 12 min walk from the Apt. The apartment is pushing the definition of efficiency but had cold air & hot water & a place to make coffee & cook some eggs & toast in the am, which is all I ever need as I don't spend to much time in the apt / room any where I go. Robin is a Canadian that lives in one of the rooms, there were 5 or 6 rooms in the Apt. I almost never saw him, absolutely no issue whatsoever bringing girls back, locked downstairs with a "Guard" if you could call him that, but at least there was someone there 24/7 on the ground floor parking area where the elevator was. $50/ night.

Food:

As usual, I had coffee, eggs & toast in the apt. Every am There is a restaurant across street from the Casino, which adjoins the Marriott (the Casino adjoins the Marriott, not the restaurant) but is not part of the Mariott, named Beiruit. On one side of the restaurant is a little Scharwma (sp?) carving station. I went in there one day & got the chicken & beef "Mixto" Scharwma for $5. 99 & OMG was it good. I know, I know. Travel to Panama & eat Lebanonese food but it was so good I went back 2 more times! Unbelievable. One great thing about this place was that each time I went in, I brought my own beer & was never once told anything by anyone! This is one of those hookah pipe places where you rent the hookah pipe & buy whatever it is they burn to smoke. Another café, across the street from that, Café Caribe or Café Azul, I forget the name, had an average at best Cuban sandwich. One day I went to the Seafood Market which I highly recommend, & had a mixed Ceviche Cup which was kinda scary looking but quite good. At one of the outdoor stands at the Seafood Market, I had a whole fried red snapper, probably 14" long that was quite good.

Touring: I bought a wrist band for the Red Double Decker tour bus & went to the Canal & the Seafood Market. This is a good deal, if you don't mind sitting around waiting for an hour so so for the next bus to show up. [URL]Citytourspanama.com[/URL] You can meet the bus at the Multicentro where the HardRock Hotel is, not the Multiplaza where a busdriver told me to get out, & pay for your 24-48-72 hour pass, whichever you like. A lady shows up about 8:45 in the morning selling the wristbands & has a CC scanner with her. Prices are $29,$39 & $50. If I do It again I'll just get the 24 HR pass because, taxis in town are $2 at the most so it's really not worth waiting around an hour if you miss the bus that just showed up. There are 2 buses that make a continuous loop around the city, up to the Canal, to the man made peninsula Armador, which looks like a high $ marina, the Seafood Market & a couple of other locations around the city. One day I missed the bus after being at the canal for 3-4 hours waiting for & watching a ship pass, so I got a $1 shuttle bus back to the Allbrook Mall Bus Terminal, which seems to be the main bus terminal & is one end of the Metro underground subway system, then got on the Metro for 35 cents & was back at the Iglesia Del Carmen (I think) metro Station & 6 min away from my apt! So for $1. 35 I made it back to from the Canal in about 45 min.

I highly recommend getting a Metro pass ($2 for the card then load the card with $3-4). The Train is air conditioned & cheap, 35 cents, and fast!! Also Taxis are ridiculously low compared to CR as the most I ever paid was $2. 50 & that was only because I didn't have change & had to give him a $5. I also got a bus pass, used the bus 2 X, didn't like it because of getting stuck in traffic & I did not know the routes & no a / see! The bus rides are a whopping 25 cents per ride. The bus Pass, Rapi pass & the Metro Pass Sistema Integrado cards are interchangeable, you can use either on either the bus or the Metro. Metro gets a two thumbs up as do the Taxis!

One neat thing about the Seafood Market was that apparently, all the fishermen come in on a high or dropping tide the when the tide is completely out, their boats are stranded on the flats next to the little cove where the Market & restaurants are. So they just hang out & eat & drink beers till the tide comes back in. Some were even walking around their boats painting / maintaining them during low tide.

NightLife / Chicas:

Sat pm Victoria from Cali From Wanuncios add. Cute little small tits but nice enough body. Extremely shy, had her own private apt off of Via Argentina. Very pretty but so shy!! Good session $80.

I've been on that Copa flight several times now. Almost like a commuter flight.

It now departs at 7:00 AM with the time change. Excellent airline for all the reasons you said.

Each time I've been on it has only been about 30 to 40 people on the flight. The last couple of times it was a small planes. Makes for a very pleasant and quick immigration on the return home.

Arrive PTY for the first time in the early PM hour. From the info I came equipped, went upstairs to departure area and tried to grab a taxi. I couldn't get on the first 2 cabs because there were a couple cops on duty. The 3rd one told me to get in quick while the police were chatting to each other and looking away. So it could be a little hassle if you try to grab a taxi from the departure area. It was $20 without negotiation.

I went to La Mayor and Bocatorrena next door first before it got dark and got more dangerous. Although I certainly don't look local and did attract some curious looks from the local guys in the club, I never felt any danger at all. La Boca was tightly packed and was jumping. The place, as described many times here before, is not a usual place many of us visited, and did smell bad. But if you can get over the negative side of it, it could be a fun place. Girl quality was much better than I had expected although there were lot's girls belong to the lower end of my scale as well. I'the say there were at least 10 girls who are on par with most of the girls in Habano and Veneto that I later visited last night. I picked a beautiful paisa from Medellin, and spent 2-15 min. Hang for a couple hours then go to the room. If you go straight to the room then you have like 8-12 hours to kill and its impossible to maintain sex for that long. Most of the Girls assume TLN means a kinda date night. Then by the time you go back to the room its late you have sex, sleep wake up and do it again. Then if you like the girl you can go to breakfast / lunch with her site seeing etc. I have found going straight to the room most time even if a girl agrees to TLN, she will make up an excuse to leave early.

We did go to Old Panama once, but we had way more fun in the city.

Other notes from the trip:

-we used Uber a lot, I used it 14 times, and my total cost was about 45 $. Most trips were $2-$3.

-a lot of girls have braces, asked a couple why, and they said because its only $25 a month to get.

-I didn't go to Veneto except once early on in the afternoon, so didn't notice any good pros working, but others mentioned it was pretty good.

-it was very hard to find non-pro local Panamanian girls there, if that's what someone is looking for.

-we as a group have been to Sosua, Cuba (in 2010), Puerto Rico, and a couple other places, but Panama was where we all had the most fun. It was pricier than the other places, but they quality and quantity was the best here.

This place is in a hidden strip mall off Via Argentina. Go to Via Argentina at Via Espana. Go "up" Via Argentina on the right side of the street. After 70 meters, halfway before the first street, you'll see a small driveway that opens up to a parking lot. There is a restaurant on the right, it used to be Mrs. Mendoza but now it's an indian joint I believe. Walk into that parking area. There is a series of odd 2-story bldgs on your right. Go to the last passageway on the right. You'll see a sign for Relax, it's on the left at the end of that passageway.

Food:

McDonalds, Carls Jr, Subway are all within a block from Hyatt.

For dinner, went to Beirut, around 8 pm on Monday 4/25. Guy who took my order spoke excellent English so no problem there. Had the lamb Kafta platter and BabaGhonoush. It was pretty good for being in Latin AMerica for Lebanese Food.

Sightseeing Tour:

Hyatt gave me a flyer which had the details for the PTY sightseeing tour bus. I had to walk about 13 minutes to get to the pick up stop. Nice tour bus, very comfortable. I got off at the Canal and spent a day learning about the canal history, and then back on bus. I again got off at the old city, and walked over to the fish market.

Had good ceviche and fried fish. Then back on bus and got off at the multi-center for some browsing around the mall. Good way to get to know the city.

Mongering:
