Pattaya Reports

Arrived in BKK late last night after the curfew, and was aghast to see Sukhumvit dead empty. I mean it was stomach churning to see that anthill as empty as it was. I decided I could do worse than ditch the capital and head on over to where there is no curfew. So I got on the bus at Ekkamai at 2:55pm, and we pulled out at 3pm on the dot. It's now 5:55pm and I am sitting comfortably in my hotel room at the Nova Platinum. The bus ride took exactly 2 hours and 5 minutes, then all the futsing about with the baht bus, check-in, and here I am.

First impressions of my return to Pattaya is that the place seems dreary. The weather is overcaste, the light is pale and tepid, and so the atmosphere is very downbeat. There seemed to be no traffic whatsoever on beach road, neither the four-wheeled kind nor the two-legged-in-a-mini-skirt kind. But that was around 5:30pm, so I'm hopeful things will pick up.

The plan: quick shower, dinner, Starbucks, then I intend to go gogo giddy. I have to avoid a couple of places since there are some girls in there who have been emailing me for the last three months I was back home. They each profess their endless, entirely monogomous love for me, which is about as monogomous as a catholic priest. So I'd rather jusy avoid the soap box that would inevitably ensue if they see me. But nonetheless, if there is one thing Pattaya is not lacking is sheer volume of gogo bars. I shall report tomorrow on my endeavors.

The night started with a walk down Second Road in search for some place to eat. I had some pad siu at a dive of a hotel somewhere, then walked through the maze of streets ending up on walking street at soi 14. The time was 7:30, and WS was totally dead. There were (literally) a dozen people in either direction. Uh-oh.

I walked up towards beach road and once on beach rd, to my relief, I saw plenty of available providers. In fact, the volume on display was rather impressive – almost enough to tempt me into a stroll on THAT side of the street. Call me shy, or lazy, or whatever, but I just can't handle that walk of the gauntlet – I usually walk on the other side of beach rd. where there are no waiting throngs of probing eyes. It's just very uncomfortable for me, I suppose because of my lack of interest in the SW scene – been burned too many times. If there is little chance of engaging a girl, then the hassle of dealing with the eyeballs and cat calls isn't worth it. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely deals to be had, but for me, it is immensely hard to judge the *subtle* quality of a woman on Beach rd. That's just me, I'm not passing judgment on the SW scene for everyone, it just doesn't work for me.

So bottom line for SWs on beach rd: unlike my 5:30pm pass, the 7:30pm pass was substantially better. I would even go so far as to say the offerings were downright good. Cue the champagne bottles popping all across the US, Europe and East Asia.

Now my impression of the gogo bar scene is even better. WS was painfully empty (as you will see in the following post), but my suspicion is that this is because all the goddamtourists (all one word) have stayed away, but none of the godblessedmongers have. Or at least not in the same proportions as the goddamtourists. WS was not the meat grinder it was in January/February, not by any stretch of the imagination. But the gogo bars were about as full (not quite, but almost) as in Jan/Feb. So the girls are getting their money, as far as I can tell, and we don't have to deal with the throngs of Russian/Arab goddamtourists with their children (I was tempted to call them goddamchildren) in tow at 1am in the frikkin' morning. Please note my reference to goddamtourist Russian/Arabs is not a slur - just a description of the frustration of having to weave through them on WS. I suppose I should add Chinese goddamtourists too.

So bottom line for gogo bars: Come to Pattaya! Don't be dissuaded by the negative publicity or the scary news stories. Things are good down here. Note, however, this is based upon exactly one night in Pattaya (Wed night).

This is low season. Of course the amount of tourists is less.

I usually spend an odd weekend in Belgium, Germany or Dam. But decided to spend 8 days in Pattaya. I am travelling alone, I am not sure what will I do during the day. I might be dull and boring. I might read books or sleep very late and get up late. What else can you do in Pattaya apart from having sex. Are there any nice massage places, any recommendations?

I've been to Bangkok twice, and getting ready for first trip to Patts. I've opted for Bangkok in the past cause, according to research on this forum, if you're focused on young stunners that's the place to go. But I'd like to at least try Patts, and if it's no good I'll check out and head back to Bangkok. Can anyone recommend the best GoGos in Pattaya for young stunners? (sort of like the Nataree of Bangkok, but not just massage.).

Try and avoid Sundays and Mondays. Seems like the majority of the gogo bars send their better looking girls on "holiday" these days. Tuesday-Saturday were better.
