(Late June)[/QUOTE]I did not book ahead, but that is another story. Booked Cyclo hotel ahead as flight from BKK arrival at 5:30 PM and I don't like to walk around when first option is fully booked. Asked for low floor, and at arrival got a top floor room. Not too bad with large balcony, but no proper window shutters and stairs there are a nightmare. 8 stairs of which last 2 were of a fire exit size. French owner was not impressed by my comments, so I checked out the other day and went to California 2. But when I got out of the tuk tuk I saw this brand new hotel in the former Mekhong Express building. Stayed even longer in PP than planned as it was a very pleasant stay.

Sniffy French fellow asked how the food was, and I suggested most politely that his food was the most expensive on hte street, but wasnt necessarily the best.
