That's horrible news. Fauci's also saying it's most likely already in the states. I'm really glad I already got infected and recovered. But I wonder if my antibodies would protect me against this new strain. If they're saying the pfizer vaccines won't work against this strain, previously infected people may also no longer be immune.
If news like this keeps popping up, where there doesn't seem to be any hope of controlling the virus, I feel like the only solution will be to just open up and socially distance. How long are we going to live in fear of this disease that kills such a small percentage? By current plans, it's going on 2 years already (end of this year). With bad news like these, it may be longer.
Sorry. But isn't this a tabloid? Not saying there isn't perhaps some truth to it, but periodicals like this love to stretch the truth to create readers. Their target audience is low-middle income women. Basically, gossip queens that take everything as fact and tell their friends for a reaction.
With that said, the UK strain is in the US. And it is more contagious. Fortunately, from what I have heard, the vaccine is said to be equally as effective. Too bad it's rolling out so slowly.
I concur with your thought though, SinfullyKorean. I believe that eventually, it's just going to have to be social distancing and herd immunity. Perhaps our immune systems will strengthen naturally over time versus strains that aren't as dangerous, resulting in more effectiveness against the most deadly strains further down the road. I am not a doctor though! Haha.
