In their advertisement in the [I]Hora[/I] newspaper the prices are listed as R$50, R$70 and R$100 for 2 hours.

Maybe you are trying to make a buck off them like you do trying to rent the shithole rooms in your apartment. Or, did they offer you free sessions for posting this information?

I will be in Rio for a week in mid September. I am interested in renting a luxury apartment for the week. I'm not a cheap charlie and am looking for something nice (but girl friendly of course). I am in Rio, I would be very suprised if a new Help appears. The locals hated the place. To be perfectly honest, since Help is closed Copacabana is a lot safer at night and it has generally been positive for copacabana in general. There is no way they will ever let a Help open again. Anybody that says there will be a new place is just hearing rumours and bullshit.

8 months Help is gone, finally for locals, I no more believe bullshits there will be a new Help, I agree with Bubba.

I think Bubba Boy's hearing is just fine. Maybe he knows a lot more about Rio de Janeiro than you do; like that São Conrado (location of Intercontinental Hotel (A) is about 10 km and a couple mountains away from Copacabana (B) ).

There are a couple of new clubs that will opening up in Copa in the near future. Whether they will be GDP friendly is the $10,000 question. Its not a matter of "They wont let a new Help open in copa" its a situation where will they be willing to hire lawyers to fight the lawsuits that will be filed, if they dont allow the GDPs in.

The new club that is a block away from Copa Palace is the place that all the working girls are planning on invading when it opens. It will be interesting to see if they can take over the place, the way they did to Help 20 years ago. I think they feel very confident because the rumors are that its owned by the same guy who owned Help.

I said "safer".IE the safety has improved, is it as safe as most western cities? HELL NO. Yiu still need to be very aware, however it has improved from what it was.

My point being, When Help was open, there were groups of favelado type guys that used to just hang out in the lane ways around help at night. If you were not very careful they would have a go at you. Likewise along avenida atlantica late, there were groups just waiting for an easy target.

Now, you can walk around that area with very little concern for safety as long as you are aware of your surroundings. Likewise avenida atlantica is a lot better. I don't feel as uneasy as I once did. Just basically a lot less shady guys hanging around.

The safety is a lot better.....

Help was started as a normal club, when the economy tanked in the 80's and 90's the GDPs were welcomed in because they were the only ones that could keep the place going.

The federal police do not need lawyers to shut a place down. They can and have shut down many clubs in the past never to be opened again.

I guarantee you there will not be another club the size of Help opening any time in Copacabana soon.

Now that is interesting. When and where did you see this ad? They just raised the pricess this month. I suppose you mean "Meia Hora" Newspaper. Can you scan the ad, write it in it's entirety, or find it online?

The price I quote includes a R$ 10 fresh sheet and towel kit. So you probably can get a dirty mattress for R$ 50 a half hour. The R$ 70 + 10 for kit is 10 under the price I was quoted. R$ 100 for 2 hours, I will be the first to claim this price.

Unless you can show that my rooms look like Vila Mimosa, you are engaging in slander. If I were to go down to your level I would ask you if you getting free rooms for badmouthing my 2 rooms.

Plenty of people love to stay at my apartment. Some stayed for months and keet coming back. My internet, aircon, mattresses all work and are in top shape, unlike at most expensive luxury apartments.

But to each his own, there are plenty of other apartments out there. with Ocean view, more rooms, or the possibility to bring girls without ID check (I insist on ID check)

As for the prices I quoted, they were in the 8/25/2010 issue of [I]Meia Hora[/I]. You are correct in that they will charge you R$10 more than the quoted price for the kit which includes a sheet, towel and condom. I know times are tough because you have been posting a lot lately all over the internet about your great free advice which usually includes an ad for the rooms you rent in your apartment. [I]Meia Hora[/I] costs R$.70 but since I am done with mine I will be happy to leave it with the doorman in your building -- no charge.

Your close, but your Help history is a little off. Yes, Help started off as a regular night club. But it didnt continue to be open in the 80s and 90s because only prostitutes could affod to go there! LOL!!!

The reason why it became a prostitute club was because initialy they banned working girls and women of color from entering the club. (Made sense for GDPs to want to go into Help because that is where the majority of tourists went when they arrived in Copa). They stopped a GDP from entering and she filed a lawsuit against the club saying they discriminated against her. She claimed that as long as she paid the entrance fee and was dressed according to their rules, they couldnt deny her entry. The courts ruled in her favor and slowly Help turned in a prostitute hang out spot.

Now I know they will never be another mega sized club in copa that will replace Help (Unless they can get that bingo parlor in aprador up and running) but they can have smaller venues that the girls can work in.
