Went to Merylin after some promising reports on forum. Ws there late after 11pm line up only 6 and mediocore. Excuse myself which semed to pis off the guys by the fishbowl was taken to footmassage area and went back to fishbowl 15mins later. Same line up but with different girl. Chose the different girl. Godd sevice but nothing spectacular for the higher price. Ws expecting a lineup of min. 8 in looks. Line up at that time was 5-7 looks.

Been to Bodi. Been a few times before. This time very conveyor belt like just processed all the way through. Much better line up at midday did a double or rather let myself get sold into it. Many QQ girls live in the same building which usually has a name that you can find even in google maps. Try to look for those ones and you will only have to find the tower number.

I was in Shanghai early December and went to Bodi on a Wednesday evening at 8:30. Showered, changed and went to the room where around 40 girls were for the picking, although most were 5-6. Picked the one with the nicest smile and off we went upstairs. I have never experience anything similar anywhere else in China or the world, but when we got upstairs, there were already 8 other "couples" sitting on little stools in the hallway waiting for their rooms. And I was told that if I pick another girl for RMB500, I would get to the front of the line. It was chilly early December In Shanghai and the girl was in bikinis and I was in a silly robe. We waited for a good 10 mins before a friend of my girl got out from one of the rooms and she was pleasant to my eyes. So I grabbed her and the room. A lot of fun was had as both were good in what they do and happy to be together. But that is probably my last time to Bodi. RMB1388 for 75mins did not represent much value. And some of the staff were rather rude.

Yes, I did my 'RTFF' and prepared a list of places to check out during my stay.

First stop was the Siyuan Spa on the 3rd floor of the MerryLin hotel (across from the InterContinental Hotel). Asked about the price at the front desk first and was told 880 yuan all-inclusive. That was more than I expected and since I only had 800 yuan (plus some dollars) in my wallet, I left. I went down to the Cashier's Desk on the 1st floor of the hotel to change my money, but they refused since I wasn't a registered guest at the hotel.

So, I decided to check out the neighborhood for something cheaper. Walked down the street on the side of the MerryLin Hotel, walked past the Captain Hostel and a nice-looking bakery, then I turned down an alley that had a barbershop pole lit up down the alley. Walked to the barbershop to find an older barber cutting the hair of a middle-aged gentleman, with no signs of young girls, so I assumed it was a legit barbershop and turned back.

On my way back, I noticed what appeared to be the lobby of a 1-star hotel on the right which had a bi-lingual list of massage offerings on the wall, so I went inside. The wall menu listed several lower-priced massages, including a foot massage for a low price, and the last item on the menu was 'special massage. 208 yuan for 60 minutes' so I asked for that massage.

A 60-ish woman led me up two flights of stairs and down several hallways to a room in the back annex. She told me that the girl would be there soon and asked me for 208 yuan. I gave her 210, she left, and I immediately stripped down naked and sat on the bed.

A few minutes later an attractive, slender 21-year-old girl walked in, fully clothed in black jeans and a long-sleeved black sweater with a high neckline, carrying only a bottle of baby oil. She seemed startled to see me naked and immediately told me that she did not offer extra services, that she would massage my front and back above the waist, plus my legs, but not the crotch area. I said that it was supposed to be a special massage and she replied that she did only the massage, no extras. I asked about a HJ and even gave a HJ gesture with my hand and still said no. Since I needed a massage after my long flight, I decided to stay and see what might transpire.

I ended up receiving an excellent massage, although it only lasted 30 minutes. The 'special' part was an interesting and totally professional stomach / abdomen massage that lasted at least 5 minutes while I was lying on my back, with no accidental brushing of her fingers or hands on my groin area.

At the 30 minute mark, she said 'ok, finished. ' I gave the HJ motion again and she replied 'like I said before, no. ' I then said 'I give tip. Renmimbi' and surprisingly, she calmly replied 'ok' then picked up her bottle of baby oil, oiled me up, then performed an excellent, skillful, non-rushed hand job, clearly something she had done hundreds of times before. I was able to roam a bit outside her clothing on her chest and leg. After I cleaned up, I gave her 50 yuan as I walked out the door, and she seemed very happy.

Not sure what the full story was here, but I ended up with a good professional massage and a HJ for 258 yuan from a fully-clothed female, an overpayment. I still chuckle about how calm she was once I said I'the give her a tip, puzzling since she was so outspoken at the beginning that there would be no extra services.

The point of this post is that I visited several 'girly bars' and my overall question is: setting aside the karaoke place in #3 below, are these places legit? Can I get full sex and at least a pseudo-massage for 400 yuan total (or less)? Or are these places a hustle of some sort? I did RTFF and it is not clear what the answer is – here's hoping that one of you will help out a long-time senior member of ISG (who normally posts on the Indonesia board).

I was walking on Nanjing Lu around 6 pm last Monday evening, from the Peoples Square down to the Bund and the riverfront, when a 45-ish plain-dressed Chinese woman came up to me, grabbed my left arm and asked 'You want massage? I bring you to place, many girls. ' I know that it's not a good idea to follow these touts, and I wasn't necessarily looking to get laid that evening, but I was intrigued by this lady, plus I was already walking in that direction, so I decided to humor her and see what might happen.

1) We walked east to the buildings in the mid-600s, turned north (left) up a side street, then east (right) on the first proper street. Walked down a block and there were two large doors painted blue, with no windows. The woman led me inside to a regular bar, with several booths, and 4 scantily-clad girls in their early 20s sitting in the center booth. 3 of the girls were nothing special, but one girl was a knock-out. The mamasan, who was herself only around 38-40, welcomed me, led me and my guide to a small side room, then called for a line-up. She asked me which girl I wanted, and I replied, 'first, how much? ' to which I was told 100 yuan for a massage, and then 300 yuan for full service (I assume this meant that the total price is 400). I then noticed that there were only 3 girls in the line-up, with the knock-out-looking girl missing, so I asked where she was. The mamasan replied that that girl wasn't working at that particular time, so I said sorry, I am not interested in any of the other 3 girls and walked out.

2) My 'guide' followed me out and said no problem, I know a better place with many girls. She led me further east, then down an alley to a local run-down restaurant a half-block north of Nanjing Lu, visible from that street in the mid-500s area. We walked into the restaurant, made a left and walked up a spiral metal staircase to the second floor where there was a bar / brothel. This bar also had a mamasan in her late 30s, and the scene was similar – into a small side room, a line-up appeared, this time with only two girls, and the same pricing structure. I didn't like either girl, so I got up and left.

3) Once again my guide followed me and said no problem, next place is better, many girls. We crossed Nanjing Lu and took a turn to the right down half a block, walked into an office building and took the elevator to the top floor (12th?). This time the place was a deserted karaoke bar. Once again, into a small room, this time the line-up was only one girl who was nothing special. I asked about the price, was told the same 100/300 scenario. I then asked if there were any additional fees since we were in a karaoke bar and was told that there was a 100 yuan room fee plus drinks. Having visions of receiving a US $1, 000 karaoke bill, I said forget it and left.

4) Returned downstairs and said 'no more' to the guide, pointing out that each place had less girls than the one before. I finally was able to shake her off, walked about 50 meters, when two 45-ish plainly-dressed women came up to me 'you want massage. ' I burst out laughing but they insisted they knew another place nearby, so I said ok.

This time, the place was located in one of the largest department stores on the street, with the initials MB. I was puzzled that the two ladies were bringing me into a department store, but once we walked into the front entrance, the ladies led me to the left, to a bank of elevators hidden in a corner. Went up to the 7th floor, where there was a clearly 'local' Chinese food court, with over 100 customers, men, women, children, but no foreigners. The two ladies led me to the rear of the food court, past the toilets, then down a couple of turns down a dimly-lighted hallway to – another brothel! This time I was led into a small room, and a beautiful girl who spoke English was led in, then the two of us were left alone.

This time, I was definitely interested, but I first wanted to make sure the price structure. The girl said '100 for massage. 100 for Hand Job. 300 for full sex, everything. ' I asked 'what about blow job' and was surprised when she replied in perfect English 'No, I don't do blow jobs, they are so dirty and unclean, don't you agree? ' Actually, I didn't agree, and I told her so, and once again got up and left, with my two 'guides' following me back to the elevator. Back downstairs, I said goodbye to the two ladies, and continued to head east.

5) Finally made it to the Bund around 7:15 pm I walked up the stairs to the promenade and an innocent-looking 20-year-old female who was standing with a girlfriend said 'Hello. ' I replied 'Ni hao' and she stepped away.

After a couple of minutes, I walked back to the young lady, said Hello, in English, talked with her a few minutes, then finally said 'why did you say Hello, to me' to which she replied 'I have a business, ' to which I said 'what kind of business? ' and she replied 'I have massage place nearby. ' I asked her if she did the massage and she said 'no, I have many beautiful girls working there' to which I replied 'I think that you are beautiful, I want you to do the massage' to which she replied 'no, the girls there are more beautiful than me, plus I don't do massage, it is not my job' so I said thanks but no, and walked away.

My overall question, as stated above, is: setting aside the karaoke place, are these places legit? Can I get full sex and at least a pseudo-massage for 400 yuan total (or less)? Is that price legit? Or is this a hustle of some sort? I'm curious because I plan on returning to Nanjing Lu this coming week and may visit one of these places.

I am most intrigued by the hidden brothel in the department store, please elaborate which one its was (MB?) around where on Nanjing lu. Suppose I would follow your route description, would it be possible to find the place (small room) and see the line-up. Hope it is not unsafe / scam tough, since it is Nanjing lu afterall.

If you want a time when Bodi is not busy, I would suggest 2PM.

Here's my dilemma: assuming that I should avoid the girly bars, my choices seem to be between getting a 258-yuan HJ from a fully-clothed girl or spending 880 yuan to visit Siyuan, Hailang, Heting and other high-end spas. Surely there must be an option in between price-wise?

While I enjoy going to a high-end spa, my wallet can't afford more than one visit at the 880 yuan level, but I can afford a place in the 400-500 yuan level where I can get naked with the girl, play around and then receive a good BJ or FS.

Any recommendations?

I found a $300 RMB massage girl that would come to my room for 60 minutes and a HJ for $450. I started having just her (she is really my type) come to the room. It progressed to full service freebees and GF. Took some gifts, some time and a little commitment but it worked for me.

If you don't have that much time, go with plan A. Find the right girl / place and repeat. Relationships in China pay off. In all business transactions LOL.
