Just returned from a few days in Manila, fruitful as always! One nice thing about Manila; if you have a couple free hours between meetings in the afternoon, there is always somewhere to go.
Although it can be a bit pricey I headed off to P. Burgos and in to Dimples one afternoon. Just a few beers and a quick BBBJ at my seat and on my way! Service with a smile and they always give a phone number so you can meet them later for an all-nighter, without the barfine.

Amboy is right on about the "balikbayan rate".
Shangri La recently ran a weekend special for "locals" only. A RP drivers licsense sufficed as proof of residency, even for us white guys. Sorry, can't remember the exact rate but it was in the neighborhood of $120 for two nights.

What is the best hotel to stay close to P. Burgos (not the cheapest)?
Thanks,

Concerning hotel rates, I also found that Gulliver Travel seems to have better rates than most internet sites. I did have to use them thru a travel agent though. An example was that the Dusit was $85 - 90 on the internet, but $65 thru Gulliver with great breakfast buffet.
Also they are very accommodating with ladies, taking good care of their customers. One night I had a young lady arrive at the hotel at about 1am. The lobby was dim with just me and security when she arrived in a taxi.
The one security, without saying a word, just followed us thru the lobby and up the lift with us to be sure we got to the room ok and ensure no problems.

New Renaissance Hotel has an all year round "balikbayan" rate at approximately $50 a day. Try to find somebody local to help you out and just sign the financial responsibility sheet.

I just bought LP's latest edition (2003) on the Philippines. They mention several hotels and inns in Makati that are in the P1300 - P1900 range. Just wondering if any are guest friendly. The hotels and inns are:
Robelle House, Jupiter Arms, City Garden, Great Eastern, Fersal Tourist Inn, El Cielito Inn, and Charter House (the Charter House on Legaspi Street).
Anyone know how they deal with lady guests?

Just got back from Cebu yesterday from a rougher than normal ferry ride. After almost two months down south its good to be back in Metro Manila. My current local GF (ex-dancer from QC) was glad to see me last night and worked out any travel stress with a couple of romps on the bed. She looks absolutely sexy when she wears my #12 Raiders jersey with nothing underneath. Got to get her a raiderette outfit when I return stateside in October.
With the NFL pre-season almost over, I'm glad to be back where I can catch some upcoming games. Plus check out the other girls on the side.

SOME hotels will balk if they realize a roundeye is main guest at room reserved at Balikbayan rate. Used to have my wife always make the reservation but more than once they said "no more" when they discovered I was charging room to my credit card.

Venture Boy,
What is best for you; clean, pool, close to action? All hotels seems to be girlfriendly. Se my comments 2 pages earlier (07-18-2004).
I recommend take a hotel first night, spend next morning to walk around. Plenty of hotels from 2000P++, 35-40USD++.

I usually stay at the Manila Pavilion, (formerly the Holiday Inn) in Ermita. I usually get the Balikbayan Rate which was $60.00 last March. My wife is there when we check in, but the last time I went by myself. I still registered as Mr. & Mrs. so that there would be no question with security. I guess since I'm somewhat a regular, they just give me the rate no matter what.

Why not put a hotel thread here like Bangkok, Dubai and a bunch of other places got.

HenryR,
The City Garden was definitely guest friendly when I stayed there two weeks ago. It's also in a good location for Burgos Street. The roof top pool has a jacuzzi(cold water) and there's a gym. The rate was something like 2200.

Teddybr99,
"I guess since I'm somewhat a regular, they just give me the rate no matter what."
My experience is that hotels charge same price for 1 or 2 persons.

Nice busy schedule Roversman99. Hope to be as busy as you this coming November.
Makhu,
Definitely try City Garden hotel, I've been staying there for about 4 years now whenever I'm in town. Nice roof top pool, gym and all around service - also lots of restaurants across the street.
NYP,
2 more months buddy!
