Is the current Republican party fascist? You decide.
Here are some of the ways to determine if a regime is fascist.
1. Opposition to Marxism (Notice how many Republicans call Democrats either "socialists" or "communists".
2. Opposition to parliamentary democracy (Notice how Trump Republicans try to silence anybody who speaks out against them).
3. Opposition to political and cultural liberalism (Duh).
4. Totalitarian ambitions (Duh).
5. Conservative economic programs (Republican tax cuts benefit the wealthy and business).
6. Corporatism ("Trickle-down" economics, anybody?
7. Alleged equality of social status (Republicans pay lip service to equality but try to pass laws curtailing voting rights, etc.)
8. Imperialism (OK, this one doesn't belong).
9. Military values (Trump loves military parades).
10. Volksgemeinschaft (a racially unified and hierarchically organized body in which the interests of individuals would be strictly subordinate to those of the nation. I. e. Don't think for yourself, let Trump or Fux "News", think for you.).
11. Mass mobilization (like rallies).
12. Single leader with absolute power (Gee, ya think?
13. The "new man" (The new man would be physically strong and morally "hard," admiring what was forceful and vigorous and despising everything "weak" and "soft."
14. Glorification of youth (OK, maybe this doesn't belong either).
15. Education as character building (Let's not teach history because we'd rather whitewash it and teach history as we want it to be).
16. Decadence and spirituality (Notice how many Republicans are against everything except God and guns. And abortions. And LGBTQ. And POC.)
17. Violence (Does January 6th ring a bell? Charlottesville? "Get them out of here" at Trump rallies?
18. Extreme nationalism (MAGA and America First).
19. Scapegoating (Blame immigrants and POC and BLM and, frankly, anything other than racism, homophobia, xenophobia and misogyny).
20. Populism (Unlike left-wing populism, this populism doesn't attribute workers' hardships to big business and big landowners and doesn't advocate measures such as progressive taxation, higher pay for industrial and farm workers, protection of unions, and the right to strike. In general it spares the wealth of the upper classes).
21. Revolutionary image (This doesn't belong either).
22. Antiurbanism (Shithole cities, etc.).
23. Sexism and misogyny (Duh, Texas' abortion law?
24. Acceptance of racism (Duh).
25. Identification with Christianity (Duh).
That's 25 characteristics of FASCISM, 22 of which describe the current Republican party. 22 out of 25 is 88% . A solid b+.
Biden is trying to save them while Tucker is trying to kill them
It seems conservative Republicans are determined to accommodate their cult leader's apparent Final Solution in order to MAGA! "Get into the boxcars" and "Step into the showers," indeed.
You can't say Biden and the Dems didn't try to convince them otherwise. But there is only so much we can say and do about it.
