Having said that I have however met several Americans at MNL that said they where "going to meet my fiancee'.

But one thing I don't understand is why you can't go online and buy and airline ticket for your kids? I think I can go online and buy an airline ticket for anyone, they would have to have provide their documents at the airport?

DIA is fun and free and it breaks the rule "you get what you pay for."

I recall that I was trying to avail of special fares offered by Qantas (Philippines) between Manila-Sydney-Manila but they were NOT available Sydney-Manila-Sydney. You could not book Australia to Manila from Philippines on the discounted fares. Some internal promotion thing.

Even now, you MUST go to the Qantas office in person in Manila to validate your internet purchase for a trip originating outside of Philippines (as just quoted to me by my friendly travel adviser). Strange but true.

You know your post has reminded me that I did buy a DIA girl a ticket on PAL one time to come visit me in Cebu and I don't even remember where she lived now, but I had to go to the PAL office and verify my credit card before the flight or she would have had to show the card at check in.

So I just got the card verified and emailed her the itinerary and she didn't have any problems. It's a shame our visit didn't go that well, she turned to be a real pain in the ass, but that's another story.

I have done this few times, she can pick up the ticket from the aiport by presenting her I'd only. Yes you do end up paying few hundreed peso extra commision to the travel agent but its far less pain in the butt and also it keeps your details private from the girl.

These guys are desperate and seem to find ways to get things done. She obviously went there initially on a tourist visa. Had to go back to Cebu after some months while the guy was moving papers around in Australia and then went back, got married and had a baby to seal the deal. The funny part is that the family in Cebu is really pissed off about the whole thing, especially the father. Turns out the desperate Aussie has an ex wife (of course) as well as a large number of kids. So when the old guy kicks the bucket, there won't be much left for San Miguels in Cebu. The only change I see is an increase in the number of english-speaking indonesians there, some of whom are quite worthwhile speaking to.
