The Bangalore scene has been cricisized many times over here, including by yours truly.
You have hit the nail on the head. It is exactly the combination of many factors you have highlighted. The supply side problem is with low volume and poor quality exacerbated by cultural conditioning. On demand side we have way to many people with way too much money to spend. I have played in many top cities, but have observed a peculiar behaviour here in BLR high flyers to overpay, as if it gives an extra kick to them. One friend I know in Delhi is filthy rich but won't pay even 100 rs more to the girl if she does not deserve it. Anyways to each, his own.
Another factor is the general demographic here. I may be oversimplifying and generalizing, but this is my analysis. Please don't lynch me if I am wrong. Most of the mid level mongers here are desperate engineers with very basic to no social skills with women. (No disrespect to any profession). Just an observation. This drives them crazy to overpay or irritate the girl out of scene.
Top this up with high levels of corruption at each stage. Combine all of this and you have the recipe of a nightmare which is BLR. Those who genuinely want to play are stuck between exorbitant prices or poor stock.
Your's truly has been trying to get Mamatha's reference for last 3 months but with no success.
Enough of a rant. What's the solution.
A) my Economics background at work here.
What happens in every efficient market when small players are threatened by big players. Small players will have to form a close cartel to keep prices in check and circulate quality goods between them. I suggest to byild some street cred and form your own small groups to protect yourself from overpaying.
B) to weed out the nuisance of desperate players ruining the scene, I will share 3 inde contacts and 2 MP with anyone who asks for it. Let new comers first try them and post FR, only then they should be trusted with new contacts.
