Day 3, pequeno gigante and el carnaval
Last day and we are feeling good about our short but productive trip. The Dutchman is intent on buying a Caribbean inspired painting for his spare bedroom. We head to Manolo for our morning ritual and after continue east on Independcia to the corner of Pasteur. There is a guy who sells paintings and the Dutchman is willing to pay $3000 pesos for a large print. The vendor wants $6500 pesos and after some hard negotiating I talk him down to $3000. He rolls up the painting and we go back to the Jaguar to pack, our flight leaves at 6:30pm. Our plan is to get a massage plus extras, and then see the Carnaval sights on the Malecon for a bit before heading to the airport.
At the Jaguar we pack, and I search the thread for a massage place that is close. We are both beat and just want a massage and a BJ. Not to much to ask for? I come up with post #3370 from Jaosousa:
"There is a happy ending massage place on Calle Cervantes, one block up from Independencia, it is located next door to a super market called La Despensa, it is on the same side of the street as the super market and is the building just before the super market. From the outside it looks like a legitimate massage place, but they offer happy endings for a higher price, something like 1200 or 1300 pesos. They are open throughout the day. Calle Cervantes is one block west of Pasteur (PLD party Headquarters is on the corner of cervantes and Independencia)."
I and the Dutchman are happy. We head to calle cervantes and realize that it is the same block as La Cedena and I believe we should head north since the post is not that old and it can't be the same supermarket as La Dispensa? It is hot and time is of the essence, it is around 1:30pm. After walking north on Cervantes and admiring the beautiful houses in Gazcue we become tired, overheated, and sexually frustrated. There is a colmado close and we settle our nerves on a presidente grande."OK, what now?", I ask the Dutchman. We sit and contemplate our next move. I ask some of the guys that are hanging out in the Colmado if they know of any massage places in the area. They do but they are all closed on Sunday. We decide to walk south on Cervantes towards Independencia and take our chances. If we find something great, if not. Then off to the malecon to take in the sites of the Carnaval before our departure. As we are walking we get the nod from a guy who questions,"chicas?" We tell him we just want a massage ans some extras, he says follow me, and we do. We follow him towards Independencia and head east towards Pasteur. We have some time to spare and both want to get one more in before we leave. The Dutchman looks at me with concern about following this guy around. I turn to him and say,"Let's ride this out and see where it goes." He summons another short Dominican with a baseball cap. They begin to talk and walk fast a few paces in front of us. I ask them to slow down,"Donde vas?" The small guy says playboy palace. I am not in the mood for playboy palace from what I have read. I ask him if he knows of any place that is strictly massage and he assures me he does. Let's ride this out! We get into a taxi and he gets in the passenger. We head towards Ave 27 to a place that he assures me there are 27 women. Too good to be true? That's what I am thinking. Let's ride this out! While in the taxi I ask him what is your name? And he says,"pequeno gigante", and we all laugh. We are close to GBP heading west on Ave 27 and he tells us he knows another place that is close but not open on Sundays. I reply in spanish "GBP?" He looks at me a bit surprised. We make a right on Luis Thomen and then another right at a store on the corner that says something like "Crash" in an orange sign. We stop at a blue house no 504 B. He gets out and rings the bell. The Dutchman pays the taxi $300 which at this time we believed was the going rate. A chica comes to the door and pequeno gigante starts to negotiate. She comes back a bit later empty. I am disappointed and sorry we let the taxi go. Pequeno walks quickly in front of us and tells us to follow him. I am weary. I turn to the Dutchman and tell him I do not want to spend my last few hours in the DR on a wild goose chase. We follow pequeno back towards Luis Thomen and then head back towards Ave 27 and make a right. My patience is growing thin and I make it known to pequeno. He assures me just one more Block and then he assures me just one more block again. I tell the Dutchman I think he is bringing us to get robbed.
We stop at a dirty looking house on the right. There is a beaten up honda in the drive and I don't like the looks of this. Pequeno rings the bell and a dark Dominican in a wife beater comes to the door gate. It looks like he just woke up. Pequeno and he negotiate. After a few minutes pequeno says that the chicas are sleeping and we should go inside. The other Dominican goes to unlock the door gate. I ask for him to bring a few chicas to the gate before we come in. This smells bad to me. I start calling a taxi driver whose number I put in my cell and tell him to meet us on Luis Thomen and Ave 27. I speak loud to let pequeno hear me to let him know that I am not buying his shit. The Dutchman actually is thinking with the little head and tells me to take it easy. The lore of one more Dominican pussy is too much for him. At no surprise the Dominican in the wife beater comes back a few minutes later to the door gate empty handed. I turn away and start walking towards Luis Thomen the Dutchman follows and behind him pequeno. (to be continued)
Unlock2go is one of many options
I bought a cheap phone on my last trip. I need to upgrade. The text messaging is exhausting. Can anyone please tell me how it works? Does the phone have to be unlocked from any specific carrier (at&t, Tmobile, etc)? Or any unlocked phone will do? Thanks!
Http://www.unlock2go.com/ Has worked for me. A little more expensive than some but they had the code emailed to me the next day. You select the manufacture, carrier your phone is locked to. The phone model and the IMEI Number. The IMEI Number is usually under the battery. They send you the code and you enter it after you insert the new SIM card. You can not unlock Sprint or Verizon phones that use the CDMA network.
You can also find unlockers on Ebay.
Hope this helps
