If no one can help you out just go to Walkabout on St. 51, lots of Aussie punters hang out there mate and the place is open 24hrs / day. Busiest times around lunch and 7-8 pm it starts filling up, maybe a little later. You can even get a ST in the morning on, but selection varies and not recommended unless you really need to bust a nut or see a cutie that will do ST for $15 + $3 for room. Just ask the bartender for a room.

I have in the past got some cuties in there, but haven't been there in about a year. Maybe I might just drop in today so I can give you a more accurate report, but yesterday I went out to buy a new laptop and the CPP Party and others Parties are campaigning for the up coming election. Traffic is bad enough without having them making parades everywhere.

I did get a laptop good deal even Dell inspiron i5 CPU2. 5Ghz. 3rd Gen. 8G RAM. 1TB HDD, etc. $450.00, been shopping on Khmer24 for some time now the old Lenovo is retired, it will not be missed.

Too many tourists fresh off the boat overpricing, girls with terrible attitudes, runners, scams, and most of them only do ST of course.

Try at Mikey's Bar across the road from Bar Street, there's maybe a dozen freelancers but quality is average at best, should be 20$ ST.

But now they may ask 30$ or more, I wouldn't be surprised there's too much money going on in SR now and the girls are getting greedy bastards.

The best shag I had in SR was in a rundown khmer massage, hard to find in an unpaved alley. 10$ full service and GFE including 30-40 mins of half baked khmer massage.

There are other girls in the street in Bar Street unless the cops cleaned up the area, some others can be spotted in downtown and at night market after dark,.

But the best girls stick to 5 stars hotels so it's not easy to tell you exactly where to go and in any case they will ask at least 50$ ST I guess.

KTVs may ask 100 or more LT, some hotels have small discos with girls, really it's all going upscale in SR, not worth it!

If you live in SR then for sure there are alternative and cheaper places where only Khmers go but the couple ones I've seen last time where

Local salaries & cost of life:

As much as you guys enjoy wasting as much as 100 bucks for a short time, let me tell you the average salary for a waitress or hairdresser or masseuse is no more than 70-80$ per month + food + sometimes accomodation (a matress on the floor and shared toilet).

This is also true for the girls in pretty much all hostess bars, fixed salary is 70$ + 1$ for each lady drink + tips.

As for food, their normal meal is rice or soup and it aint going to cost more than 1. 25$ including tea or water and many girls are ok with 0. 75$ rice bowls.

Cigarettes are 0. 50$/packet, beer and soft drinks are around 0. 50$/can.

A mototaxi will ask khmers no more than 1$ to make 3-4 km, and a quick ride from 51 to 136 is no more than 1500 riels.

All tuktuk are ok asking 1$ to khmers and driving in downtown. 2$ is only if they go far away.

Even the laziest tuktuk driver earns at least 10 bucks / day which is a GREAT salary by khmer standards, don't believe any of their BS.

Gasoline is 1. 25$ per litre by the way, that means 20-30km on a tuktuk.

Pair of shoes in the market : 5-6$

Female dress : from 4 to 8$

Haircut for girls : 1-2$, or 5-6$ for color.

Nails : no more than 1$ in any market or beauty parlor, I mean downtown, it's even cheaper in the suburbs.

Bags : 5-10$ at most.

Watch : 4-5$

Fake jewelry : from 1$ up in any market.

Parfums etc : from 1$ up everywhere unless they want original western products.

Rent : most of the girls working in the riverside live nearby in shitholes where they pay no more than 30-50$ per month for a room with shared toilet.

Others live far away with husbands kids and family, nobody in the suburbs pay more than 100$ even for a big house, only foreigners pay from 200 to 500$/month or more (diplomats can even pay 2000$/month for a villa, to each his own).

I'll be in Singapore in mid August and noted some good flight options to Phnom Penh. The thing is, my schedule would only allow for about one full day there. A full afternoon, night, and morning. I figure I could get a full service massage in the afternoon, short time at Cyrcee in early evening, a freelancer or hostess for overnight, and maybe a legit massage with happy ending in the morning. Can I get anyone's thoughts on whether this would be worthwhile, would I just be better off taking a little more time in Singapore or Jakarta (I will be there before Singapore).

Thanks![/QUOTE]It depends where you are going after your proposed layover in Phnom. I will be flying Silk Air from Singapore to Phnom Penh myself on my next trip. I plan on spending a week in Phnom before moving on to BKK. If you are returning to Singapore or Jakarta, I hardly think all that round trip flight time and airport hassle is worth one day in PP. Spend an extra day in Jakarta and plan a more lengthy trip to Phnom for another time. If your next destination is BKK, then a short detour / layover in Phnom isn't such a bad idea, especially if you have never been there before. The flight to BKK from Phnom is roughly 45 minutes so it is not terribly out of your way. IMHO the massage service is not that great in Phnom. I would look for a freelancer in Walkabout for an afternoon session, a 104 ST hostess or Cyrcee session in the evening, and possibly a HOD or Golden Sorya Mall or Martinis hookup around 11:30pm to 12:30am. That is certainly a lot to accomplish in one day. A 104 St girl would be my # 1 must do and a HOD / Golden Sorya / Martini's pickup my #2 must do.

Khmers used to paid from 5000 to 10.000 riels.

Was there last year and 1000 Baht bar fine, girls 2000 Baht for LT, some real cuties, but please and the bars paying the girls big Baht isn't helping. Most want 1000+ Baht on Soi 6 for an ST. Rooms you see in brothels including the posters on the wall (60$/month) , fan, tv, and all, toilet was shared and there's a big kitchen with a lady cleaning and cooking for everybody in the apartment, which is a weird 3 floor affair and the whole building reminds me of the slums of New Delhi.

Now, you see this shit and her friend wearing jeans and t-shirt and you're reminded they've the guts to be offended if a client asks her out for 30-40$ + 10$ barfine + 10-20$ in drinks, it's unbelievable

How much they're monetizing their bodies and how easily they can make money and live in the very center of PP not far from posh apartments where barangs pay 4-500$/month.

My opinion? This situation cannot last long, all the red flags are there. I see most of the girls only earning money with ladydrinks but just a few of them are barfined and make serious bucks, I would go as far as saying in an average riverside bar no more than 2-3 girls per night are barfined.

On the other side I witnessed crazy barangs and koreas wasting as much as 200$ in drinks and ladydrinks so the bars are not starving!

But the ones in 110 and 118 look always empty and depressing, no idea why they're still in business.

The action is 24x7 on str. 51 now and rightly so, cheap beers (from 0. 50$ up) , cheap girls (as low as 10$ for a freelancer in the morning and 15-20$ ST by night) , music, crowds of mongers, lots of options among hostess bars, bars, clubs, discos, freelancers, street hookers.

Said that. 51 is too much crowded most of the time, I'm afraid before or later the government will do something, maybe cracking down the whole area or booting out the freelancers?

It's also getting a bit dangerous after midnight but nothing compared to Thailand or Philippines, and there's plenty of undercover cops everywhere keeping an eye on drunks and yaba heads.

So, all in all still many options but as you see it's a far cry from the PP of years ago.

Personally I enjoy a weekend in snooky when I can, cheaper prices, more relaxed and more down to heart girls.

As a city, PP is getting greedy and arrogant and it can't be otherwise with all these NGO guys paying western prices and all the new influx of tourists with big pockets.

My feeling is that the party is almost over, give it 5-10 years from now and the whole city will be unrecognizeable and the whole sex scene will be minimal and priced on par with Thailand or even with Vietnam!

After 3 weeks in Cambodia, Phnom Penh; Siem Reap and Sihanoukville in marts / April I totaly agree. Sihanoukville is the best place for mongering. You can go to the cheap places down town, you can go to victory Hill or to the beach close to golden Lion. There are plenty nice girls, all very friendly. 15-20 ST. 20-30 LT. In bars the barfine is 5 to 10.

My first post here, I have been reading and visiting for about a year though. I thought I'd give you my first thoughts on the club Pontoon in PP. This report is from a few months ago.

Pontoon is located on the street 51 drag and upon entering is a world apart from outside. Its classy on the inside. Sat down at the bar to warm up and I think a bottle of beer was about 2. 75 dollars or 3 dollars (local beer). To the right of the bar area there is "the door", this is a portal into another dimension that is stuffed with freelancers. Going through this door you walk into typical club environment. Loud music assaults your ears, flashing lights, loads of FL's tend to congregate near this portal / edge of dance floor and all the way around a centrally placed bar. Then there is the disco floor usually packed with young gap-year / backpackers doing the stupid jump. Up and down / fist pumping. Completely missing the whole point of what's supposed to happen there. Plonkers.

Right that's the stage set. It was here that I met Lilly, she came and sat down a seat or two away from me after I had done my oh-so subtle walk around checking out a few bottoms, bit of smiling. Bingo. Very friendly, bit of chit chat, I suggest we go to my hotel. I ask how much, she says "I don't say, I never talk about money, up to you" So I immediately pegged her as thinking she's a hotty and going to be asking for big bucks.
