Not everybody around the world do like the US Gringo! Why tiping? I don't see it as my business to pay "tips" (I. E. Salary) to all kind of gangsta such as taxi driver (which I never use whatsoever), the the bartender etc. It is the business' duty to pay its staff. Period! Tjat's how the Colombia dudes see it, that's how many others see it. US Gringo think they must pay foer every silly thing. Good, then they do it. But don't try to force other to do it alike!
PS: The room cleaner I give a few cents every here and there, but not the restaurant dude

I do tip the housekeeper if I'm staying in a hotel. I end up with a dozen fluffy towels instead of the 3 regular ones I would get.

Give a tip if you feel like it, but don't give an exorbitant one, it looks like a bribe.
If you're overly generous with a housekeeper she'll probably think you're trying to get extra services, and either be indignant or start negotiating with you!
DO NOT TIP TAXI DRIVERS IN Bogota! Really, don't even take them if you can avoid it at all!!
What is your favorite Colombian Ron and why?
Ron Medellin Extra Anejo 8 yr is my usual go-to Colombian Ron nice balanced anejo.
Ron Caldas I agree with some of colombianos and think this tastes like gasolina.
Ron Parce 8 yr REALLY like this stuff, but can be pricey and hard to find.
Ron Dictador haven't tried yet. Seems overly trendy.
Ron Hechicera haven't tried yet.
How do you usually drink your rum? Neat? Cuba Libre? Ron Medellin I can drink either neat or Cuba libre style. Coca-Cola and a lime slice please. Minimal regrets the next morning.

I'm thinking Amoxicillin at 2 k for 10- 500 MG tabs. Anyone know for a fact if there is a 50 pill personal exemption for this med?
Sildenafil at 4 k for a 4 pk of 50 MG tabs. Anyone declare and import 50 pills?
Lycra boxer shorts at 5 k ea.
Locally made knockoff tennis shoes 10-20 k Do they last?
Guava sweets and colombian candy.
Colombian sombrero 21 Vueltiao.

I know a lot of people bring back pills, but not sure on how much is allowed, or if they are declaring them. Coffee I believe has a limit, but I can't remember the amount. Clothes shouldn't be any problem either. Most of the clothes I returned with were bought in Colombia. No experience with the knock-off shoes, but the knock-off jeans weren't very well made.

When I tried to find 11.5's I was limited to a pair of Nikes that someone had special ordered and never picked up.
Try shoe alley in El Centro. Calle 47 between Carrera 52 and 53. You'll see why I call it shoe alley when you get there.

Coffee.[/QUOTE]As long as you aren't bringing in controlled substances where you are going (nootropics, opioids etc which CAN ALL be gotten OTC anywhere in Colombia), and they are obviously for personal use or gifts, you will be fine.
And for 20 k or less, they aren't going to last.

I buy beautiful colorful 2 person hammocks for 45 k in Parque Bolivar during their craft fair, 1st weekend of every month. (lots of cool stuff there).
I buy 10 k Colombian soccer jerseys from a street vendor on the corner of Calle 52 & Carr 49. Next to Edificio Coltejer, the big white tall building- Go Atletico Nacional!
I get nice size Botero statues during the weekend from a little old lady under the Metro by Plaza Botero for 10 k. (not tiny ones either).
I always walk thru and buy some stuff at "Centro Artesanal Mi Viejo Pueblo" a large craft and souvenir mall Cra. 49 #53-20 on Junin Walking Street at the Parque Bolivar end.
I get some very nice Botero prints on canvas (30 k) from the corner souvenir shop next to Plaza Botero, corner of Carr 52 & Calle 52.
