Mexicali and Tijuana Run!
I'm planning my first trip to Tijuana on Friday 6/17. This will, for sure, be the longest drive I've done for a piece of ass. Ha Ha. Ok, I will also be deviating to Mexicali as the 1/2 way point.
I will leave the metro Phoenix / Glendale area around 3-4pm. Will be making my way via Gila Bend and Yuma. Make a pit stop in Mexicali for a breather and to check out a couple of bars. Should be there by 8pm.
Depending on how Mexicali goes, I may crash at a local motel in Calexico, or just continue to San Diego and get a motel there.
Saturday, depending on your suggestions, I make cruise around San Diego and head into Tijuana when the action starts up. Or, just head there first thing in the morning and be a tourist in Tijuana before mongering.
I will have to be back in Phx by noon on Sunday, so will need to leave TJ by 4am. Yeah... it's going to be rough, but FUN!
It's a LONG 6 hour drive. So, I'm looking for a fellow monger(s) to come along for the ride, split some small expenses, shoot the shit and have a little fun.
Especially one that is familiar with Tijuana.
Also, if anyone else is going to be there, PM me and we can hook up for drinks and stuff!

Seems with the price of gas these days and the long duration driving, maybe you'd be better off just flying from PHX-SAN. If it's your first trip to Tijuana, maybe it's worth it to spend both Friday and Saturday there, it'll provide you with more options. (just my humble recommendation).

In El Paso years ago told them I would prefer dealing with terror than with TSA! About six years ago TSA TRIED to body search my then 93 year old mother! 1. When I said I would go to AP Press, CNN. 60 minutes. 20/20 or all of them they backed down! But cursed me and my old Mother first! Then recently six year old girl body searched extensively while the sheep passengers did nothing! Sorry for not staying on topic but these guys irk me to the boiling point! Just interfere with regular citizens, do nothing to stop real bad guys!

I travel a decent amount and can tell you that I have had / seen very little problems with what they do. That does not mean that it is, and ever will be a perfect system. But please don't make it sound like they were doing a cavity search on dear old Mom, while Bin Ladin walked right past with a bomb in his hand.

Coming back into the US. The lines were very long. I heard people yelling for the I'd checkers to hurry up. People w / o passports were complaining about 3 hour waits. I waited in line for about 30 mins. Longest I've ever waited.

I am a respectful member, have no desire to get into flame war with you nor anyone else! And nobody searched my Mom because I stood my ground on this! And when they threatened to arrest me I threatened with the press, and TV attention they backed down! I am 67 and a vet seen our freedoms erode very sadly! Frankly very glad you have had little trouble with TSA Sir hope it remains that way for you!

I agree with you but have sadly learned to look the other way to many of the freedoms we lose. I do not have what it takes to be in the military, I'm not much of a team player, that being said if the day came to fight to regain our rights I would be 100% on board. You and other veterans have done great things for our country, I'm not sure who feels safer because of TSA but certainly I am not one of those people. It makes no difference to me if there is a heavy search or no search at all, if someone is intent on terror it will happen. I had TSA at Milwuakee check my bag because of liquids, the lady told me I will never get through their airport if I leave liquids in my bag, my response was I flew 3 days ago with the same exact things in my bag through Milwaukee and nobody stopped me. I'm an engineer myself and have worked with companies supplying M16's and other equipment to the army. I know it is incredibily easy to make a gun that would pass through security because I would need no liquid and no metal and could make it in any shape or form I desire. Most people don't realize the simplicity of a firearm, but the kids that built a gun from a tube, rubber band, pin understand that it isn't all that difficult. I'd much prefer vets like you carrying a gun on the plane incase someone that shouldn't have one managed to get a weapon on board.
I FOUND A NEW PLACE, well new to me. It's totally my style and I just left it so can't really report on but 2 chicas which were decent. I just like that the club is nice and it seems more like a true massage parlor, maybe not 100% but who knows. Prices are cheaper for beers and everything, there's a pool table. It's just a cool chill place which is most similar to Zona Blue or HLH in Costa Rica which to me is the best MP. I will hopefully have a good report from it later today, waiting for a chica at my hotel then switching to Tiquan that place is nice! Got the master suite and I think I will be quite happy tonight. Hopefully going to try a dance clube called Dubai or Duvi or something like that.

The subways in NYC are an open target. Too many trains and entrances into the subway. You can't secure everything.
No offense to guys who risk their lifes for our saftey but there is no security in the USA. These TSA guys they hire are just employees for hire. They have very little knowledge about terrorism. They didn't grow up with it.
If I was a radical extremist I would fill a car trunk with explosives and drive right through macys 34th street. I am surprised nobody has done it yet. The special ops team a few blocks away at penn station wouldn't know what hit them.

). Posting a quick review below. All prices are in USD.
The good:
Room was very nice. I got the master suite with the Jacuzzi. Bed was big enough for 3, as was the Jacuzzi. Price was decent, ended up being about $170 for two nights. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Definitely girl friendly. I had some escorts come to the hotel while I was in the room, and just got a call from reception that went like "Hello, Sir, there are a couple. (dramatic pause) ladies here to see you. Should I sent them up?" My answer was yes of course, and they were in my room 2 minutes later.
The hotel is between Revolution and Constitution Aves. Very convenient. I was able to walk up Constitution to Zona Norte in about 15 minutes. Was fine during the day, but not recommended at night especially if you are drunk. Cabs ride is only 3 dollars, but I had one cabbie try to tell me it was 5. He actually followed me into the hotel to demand extra money. I gave him an extra buck (total of $4) just to shut him up, but I really should have just asked security to escort him out. No point in encouraging gringo taxes.
The bad:
They charged me a $300 deposit for the "open bar". There was no mini bar or refrigerator in the room, so I can only assume it was for room service drinks or something. I told them I was buying my own alcohol from the store, but could not talk them out of the deposit, so anyone who stays there should be prepared to add a big charge to their card or bring lots of extra cash. The charge was fully refunded on checkout.
The ugly:
Their website advertises free wifi internet access, but it was not working at all. Fortunately for me, I did not actually need it on this trip. Usually I would have been very displeased, as I often take working vacations, but this trip was pure pleasure, so no big issues. It just meant that you folks all had to wait for my reports. However, another guest who was checking in at the same time as me was livid. Be sure to call ahead and make sure it is working if in-room wifi is a deal breaker for you.
Conclusion:
I would stay there again if purely on vacation, but I would not use this as a working hotel because of the lack of functioning internet, and also there was no desk, just a small table. I really did like the room and the staff though, and I can deal with the extra deposit if I know about it up front (I just put it on the same card I used to book the room).

Its a good hotel but like you said, the internet service is lacking. When I was last down there they were finishing the restaurant, now I hear its opened. The rooms are very comfortable and I think they got the best tv channel selection in Tijuana, including all the major US Tv Networks from San Diego. Cell phone reception can be an issue also, I had rooms on both sides of the hotel and the Revolucion Ave side seemed to be good when I was with Sprint.
I'm in ticuan right now, the internet is great it is the reason I switched from pueblo amigo to here. The bad. Jacuzzi is nasty. I filled it up which took about an hour and then ran the jets and it just stunk like rotten ass farts. Asked my girl and she said the same so there was no way we were going in that thing! They asked me for deposit also but I didn't really care much credit cards are protected for disputes anyway. I prefer this place so far over puebla amiga although they seem less chica friendly here, are atleast they give you a look more.
