I'm an OG of the area and purposely stay off those boards as I'd be easy to identify. Just like everything else as we age, all I can do is ***** about how it used to be and that's enough to turn me off of taking a trip to the zona. Turns out I spend nominally more at home on SA and get more of what I want for much less hassle. Never been remotely concerned about going there for safety reasons, in fact I'm convinced the calle is probably one of the safest streets on the planet due to the hardward LE carries. The turn off is more about the constant propina, deafening music, sleezy hotels, crowds, and, most importantly, my type is generally not Latina but I have seen girls for months or even years when I found one I liked. Always from Sinaloa if that tells you what my type is.
Cross? No. I go there. I like it. It's not for everyone. It's seedy and kinda dangerous. But it's an inventive city. It's like a huge gentrification experiment right now where the gentrification is in the 4th inning. Some amazing restaurants and such. But also next to half finished buildings and you have to stay in certain areas.
