One of the worse things to find in a por is that she speaks English. The questions flow like a faucet. My guess is one of the first things she asked was if you had ever been to LDV before. These are the kinda of girls that you really do have to negotiate EVEYTHING up front including no payment until AFTER the session. This gives the girl almost no leverage.

The one good thing about Cartagena or Colombia for that matter is that the girls seldom go nutso on you should you have to toss them out for renegging on a set deal. Unlike the many of the garotas (girls) in Rio that do a bait and switch and yet expect get paid and also threaten to get the police involved, the Colombianas are usually cool headed, unless of course they are drunk. Can't tell you how many of my buddies had a Brazillian chic trash their place. Many just paid them to get them to leave.

What kinda sucks about being at LDV and in Cartagena in general is that most of the hottest chicas are from Medellin. So unless you dig the old city or the dirty beaches then why leave Medellin and pay 2, 3 or 4 times as much for the same quality poon as what you find in Medellin?

Needless to say I have not and never will return to Costa Rica.

Also speaking on Costa Rica, while I was there I had two Nicas and I found them to be by far the best providers. I have been putting off a trip to Nicaraqua, but I now just booked two weeks in Nov. To give that spot a try.

This was a hard call for me as Colombia has been great, but even though I know Colombia is a sure winner for me I still like to have some adventure.

All good points. Waiting outside is the best strategy. One could even go inside briefly, select someone, and ask a girl to step outside to talk. From there, you can simply leave and avoid all the racket inside.

I was approached by a waiter who mentioned the drink requirement when she told him we were leaving. She left me briefly during our conversation/negotiation so this must be some kind of pre advanced setup on a newbie. I almost said forget it right there and in retrospect I should have but then thought I must have missed this about LDV when RTFF.

She also did not ask me if I had been to LDV before and I believed her when she said that she was trying to make money to pay for a visa for her first trip to Panama. She even expressed concern that she would not make that much more money if she went. I did not pay her beforehand but had not negotiated oral as I figured that was standard.

Also, if you read my post, you will see that the girl I met in San Andres and the one in Cartagena were both from MDE so your right why leave MDE as that was where I started my trip to begin with. I did enjoy Cartagena though, not so much for the lousy beaches but the general atmosphere in the old town.

In Brazil, the police will generally support the chica (garota), and the chica knows it.

In Colombia they generally don't have that support and subsequent power.

Don't think it has anything to do with the Colombiana being more cool headed, which actually they are not IMO, just has to do with the power or lack of it when push comes to shove.

The weather is cool though, definitely not hot.

Perish the thought. Makes it more fun, splash around Parque LLeras with the babe in the mud, kind of like football in November.

Might sound silly to some .... Do I need heavy duty rain gear or a hotel umbrella would do? I want to do what the locals do and not stick out like a sore thumb.

Talking about packing, do locals walk around in shorts and T shirts during the day? It is not always about the weather right. When I go to Asia, I notice that it might be hot as hell but it is rare to see an adult walking around in shorts.

If you're going to be staying and hanging around mostly the Parque Lleras/ Poblado area then you should be ok wearing shorts and T shirts as you will be in the company of others who will be doing the same. It is also relatively rare to see locals wearing shorts around here except for when they go play soccer matches and/or on Sundays when people go walking and riding their bikes at the CICLOVIA. I highly recommend the Poblado Sunday CICLOVIAS as they are one of my highlights of the city. The fact that you can walk on the street without having to worry too much about getting run over or driven down by a vehicle comes close to the experience of having so many casas and mongering venues to choose from.

Wearing shorts and especially at night will make you stand out like a sore thumb.

The rain is a pain, but really not that bad. A small umbrella is all you need.

Except for this year on my other trips to MDE it never rained that much. This could be that on your trip the rains will stop. No matter rain or not MDE rules. I just saw a very cheap flight to MDE so over my Wingmans request that I am nuts, I am looking into another trip to pussy heaven. After all it has been 8 days since I got home from my last trip and my Willie is looking for a good home and of course New Jersey is not the place for him.

I walk around in shorts during the day, and at night I wear jeans. It's in the upper 70s during the day, so really you could wear either and be comfortable. At night definitely jeans. You won't stick out wearing shorts, nobody gives a shit.

Preparing for Medellin for me is less about making a fashion statement and more about comfort and being prepared for the climate. I always pack a little tote umbrella that I always carry at night. Nice shoes I leave at home along with dress slacks. White sneakers won't be white when you return, so wear dark sneakers. I usually sport some comfortable leather lloufers, preferably dark color. Shorts are not needed outside(or in fashion) but I take a couple pair to lounge around the pad wearing, but a few pair of durable jeans are. A nice comfortable shirt. Also take a light jacket just in case the temp drops. To sum it up don't take your first string wardrobe, take the second or third string wardrobe, something more expendable and comfortable is better. I hang in strip clubs and deal with street walkers, so fashion is not needed.

If your dealing with more upper class establishments, maybe the first string might be appropiate.
