These guys targeted you, I'm assuming your an obvious gringo, and they were hoping you would be scared, and just hand over your belongings with no resistance and be gone in under a minute.

Your experience should serve as a reminder that when you least expect it, you can become a target in Medellin, not only in El Centro, but in Poblado as well, which has been brought up many, many times before on this thread.

You can never become complacent, meaning let your guard down.

Today was proof for me that putting the time into Facebook is worth it. As I mentioned earlier I've built up a list of about 600 girls as compared to 20 on my first trip. Now the interesting thing about Facebook as others have stated is that it starts to take a life of its own after you get a critical mass and its the girls that start contacting you that are the interesting ones. In my case, some are not prepagos and others are semi-pros or what ID call prepagos in denial.

As I'm writing this I just had one date with what turned out to be a prepago in denial. And have the next two days booked with other girls that have not mentioned a price at all.

So that's where ID say the prepago in denial part comes in. But all in all I have no regrets and definitely got my money's worth.

Tomorrow I've got a lunch date at a restaurant and dinner date (making pasta for the girl in my apt) lined up. It remains to be seen if they are nonpros or prepagos in denail /-semis. On Thursday I may see a see again and will be seeing my PSE girl I met at newlife on my first trip in the evening. Beyond that we will see.

I'm not fond of it. There's Camilla who I think is the only street girl worth while there. I've gone into parque Lleras club melow moet club and I've gotten a few whatsapp and quoted ranging from 350 mil to 500 mil. But there is so much silicone in there.

The waiters at La Isla will bring you a stack of 2 k bills for a 50 k bill. Expect them to take out a couple for a tip.

Personally, I think going alone to La Isla is a waste of time. Get together with 3 or 4 friends, buy a bottle and get a table and it's a good time.

I think Parque Lleras, as a source for girls is overrated. It's better to go with a friend, buy a beer at one of the little stores and walk the streets. Maybe check out some of the clubs, or just people watch.

I've done taxis, the bus, had a Facebook girl with a car pick me up (and give me a handjob while I fingered her on the drive to Medellin, before the tunnel existed) and had 2 regular girls I know pick me up.

If I'm arriving day time and traveling light, I'll take the bus to San Diego, if I'm staying in Poblado, Envigado or Sabaneta, then hop on a south bound bus. If I'm staying in Laureles, arriving day time and traveling light, bus to Nutibara, metro to Estadio. If one of my regular girls is available (and I'm not avoiding her for a few days), I'll have her pick me up.

Traveling heavy, or arriving late, straight to the taxis.

This strip club is near the more sketchy area. Basically there is not much that will interest you. If you want to go, survey it during daytime, and leave the same way you arrive. Night time can be very different from day time so you don't want to go to the place you don't know. The day time market can be occupied by wall to wall glue sniffers at night.

El Centro has no police presence at night while Santa Fe does. El Centro also has a lot more drug users

The crazy part is this cheap hotel has best WiFi Internet strength of any hotel I have ever been to in Medellin. Go Figure!

Lugnut, I am there almost everyday and never seen or heard anything like that ever happening, and yea I go there at night too, after 8. There are some lookers out at that hour, but not as many. I usually end up there for the drinks and sitting on the bench with the other gringos. Drinks are cheaper in that area.

We might even ran into each other and not even know it.

If it happens to you or anyone else just yell LATRON LATRON and see what happens. Cops want to keep that place safe for the tourists and it has changed since my first or even my last visit here. Its unusual to hear your story, but you have my sympathies.

The main shopping street South of Parque Berrio (Bolivar?) has thousands of pedestrian during day time. Are shops open, people walking after sundown?

One spoke English to me trying to be friendly. I let him got close and he proceeded to pick my pocket. He was not afraid of being caught. I got away and put some distance between him and me then they left. I know they are not from El Centro because I was there all the time. I never saw them before or after.

I think the police will try to prevent crimes but they probably won't try to chase the bad guys when nothing happens. I saw a machete fight near the station, and the locals yelled "policia". The moto police showed up quickly to stop the fight. Things like these happen once in a while. You don't see them but they are there.
