In Poblado you might get away with it, but other than at the Pool it is not appropriate. Jeans, T shirt and athletic shoes seem to be the standard daytime dress in MDE, it is less dressy than some other Latin countries I have been to and perhaps more Americanized, but still no shorts.

In my experience a small travel umbrella or a light rain jacket is sufficient. Occasionally it will really pour, but then you go inside a cafe or bar or something. It won't last that long.

If they are long enough to go past your knees and you are not over 60, but even then the locals walk around with the longer version of shorts. They appear to like the Hip-Hop deal even if they do not know Hip-Hop.

Anyone else have the same problem with Ejecutiva?

The ¨security¨and a waiter has befriended me.

In 2009, Dec., I went in there with my wife, her idea not mine, she wanted to know what strip clubs in MDE are like. SHe has been with me in strip clubs in the US and in Aruba but she claims she had never been to one in Colombia until I took her to Ejecutiva.

Anyway, we enjoyed ourselves and now when I pass by I have that security guard asking me to for una lega. The other day he asked me for 2000 so he can get something to eat. He has done nothing for me but give me a ¨free¨ feel when I went in that time and the one time after in Feb. Yet he thinks I need to list him as one of my dependents.

For the waiter, he remembered me getting wasted when I was there with my wife and the two time after that ushered me to a table and served me. Then asked in a confirming tone, we are friends, will you buy me a drink. I bought him two drinks that night, Pilsen, and he did not drink one of them. It was for him to get that little more out of me. When I went back in Feb. He again said the same and I replied, ¨friend, it is your turn to buy¨.

I have not been inside the bar since Feb. And do not plan on returning but I do pass the bar most every day in El Centro and I am still hustled by that security guard.

Just to infom and to see if other, regulars or semi-regulars have the same experience.

This worked to my advantage there because everyone knew I was not from there. I would say after about 5 sec of making eye contact the girl would ask " de donde eres". Where are you from. Just replied and smiled California USA. Girls lved that I hooked up with mor locL girls than pros and each encounter with a local gis happend that way. Why is this different in MDE. I it because of the weather?

First the similarities, both groups tend to be very passionate and give great GFE type sessions for the most part. They treat you like a "boyfriend" and get a little jealous if you choose another girl. The filipina gals are more like this than the paisas in my experience. Both seem to be proud of their national heritage and also have an "built in" sexiness that is almost irresistible.

As far as body types I think the paisas tend to have more curves and larger bundas, while I found not many "true" spinners in Columbia, they are prolific in the Fils. The fils gals, tend to be small breasted and small bundas, but they know how to use their assets well. The paisas drip sexiness and are rightly proud of their femininity and use it well.

It would be hard to choose only one, the fils gals are a little more "sincere" but you can't go wrong with either. It is a great problem to have!

My experience of Colombia though is mostly limited to Cartagena and not Medellin. Most of this is obviously just my opinion

Philippines is much cheaper than Colombia. This is especially true these days with the extremely poor exchange rate against the USD and EUR. Not only that, but prices have gone up in Colombia over the last 5 years. However, from what I can see there's still some value in MDE, but CTG is very expensive these days.

Philippines, IMO, have the hottest and most GFE girls in all of Asia, so it's a good choice.

Colombian girls are much hotter than Phil girls. The average standard of girls in a place such as LDV in CTG, for example, won't be found in PI.

A 100%, out-and-out sex destination such as Angeles City (current problems not withstanding) doesn't really exist in CO.

My personal feeling is if you haven't been to either destination then you'll have a great time whichever place you choose.

If money is an issue, choose PI.
If you speak a little Spanish, choose CO.
If you live in the US, choose CO
If you want 24 hour sex, choose PI specifically AC.

I it because of the weather?[/QUOTE]CTG is so damn hot and humid, I stuck with shorts even if that did make me stand out, which meant those annoying street touts almost never left me alone. In MDE, you don't have to worry about touts but there are some areas in MDE and BOG where you might be concerned about potentially more dangerous things: street crime, pick pockets, scammers, etc.

In general, it always helps when you travel to "blend in" as much as you can with the locals. I know, however, that's a tall order for many gringos who always seem to be in a sweaty hot mess in weather over 60 deg. F ;) Even in Cali, which gets quite hot during the afternoon, I was able to comfortably wear long thin khakis, but CTG is the one place I make an exception, wearing the long stuff only at night.

Of the 3 clubs in a row in MDE El Centro I prefer Las Americas. I have never had a problem there.

It's all about the tourists in Cartagena.

Medellin is really much more of a normal city, except for your known street walker areas, girls just aren't going to approach you like that, and you don't need to wear shorts to be known as a gringo in those girly areas.

Sometimes it's good and beneficial to stand out as a gringo and well, sometimes it ain't.

Downtown Medellin isn't el Laguito and neither is el Central en Cali.

Crime and gang-wars are up in these cities. Low key is in.

Oh, and in their culture, away from the beach, it looks dorky.

I do have a dream though, and I think it's coming, of the streets of Medellin filled with overweight tourists in Bermuda shorts, Nikes, knee high white socks, fanny packs, and a few cameras around the shoulder heading to a Tea Party, and then in the afternoon a run to a casa to get layed. Hahaha.

He asks me for propina all the time. Sometimes I give 1K peso, sometimes I do not. He and many Colombianos think that gringos are rich, so 2k peso is nothing to us. If you are annoyed, say "no". Still you will be treated the same in club. In general, I avoid being acquainted with workers in clubs and casas. There is marginal or no benefit, and cost exceeds benefit.

Very good point but I guess you have to consider how you look like in the first place. If your facial features (clearly white, brown to blonde hair and light colored eyes) obviously make you look like you a foreigner it probably does not matter and ladies might readily approach you regardless. If you look like a typical gringo and dress like a local, they might approach you thinking you are a gringo in the know (speculation). But if you don't look like a typical gringo, but would like to stand out, surfer shorts in MDE might be the way to go.

Myself, I can pass for a local in many countries (except Sweden) until I open my mouth. It is my first time in CO but I have travelled extensively elsewhere. One thing I notice is that chicas have an uncanny ability to spot mongers, just like how we can spot a pro at a mall.

This conversation has been done before and to death, wear whatever you want that you feel comfortable in but remember what you wear may or may not have cosequences. #1 Looking like a tourist in a tourist area has its benefits but looking like a tourist in Bello, copacabana, and castilla might not.

When I'm in Mayorista alone I never get a table by myself. It makes me look like a Mark(target). I prefer to post up on the wall with the tricks, it gives the impression I'm the hunter not the prey. When traveling alone I never want to standout for security purposes.

As far as acting American some guys go to far.

Here's what happened my last trip in Sept:

I was getting a pizza at Dominoes in El Pablado. So I walk outside and I see this brother in white tee shirt, shorts, white socks, fake gold chains and Nikes. I strike up a conversation and find out he has been in his room with an online chick for three days. He states he is from Detroit. I give him my number and he calls me to hang that night.

We go to Sandiego (my hangout). We order a bottle of rum and homeboy pulls two chairs up to prop his legs on in the middle of the walk way. He grabs the bowl of popcorn and pours it into his mouth like a drink. He guzzles the rum and starts starring everybody down. Now I can't let him fuck up my main hangout so I say lets hit Mayorista.

At Mayorista we exit the cab and are walking the strip when out of nowhere he yells"Detoit in the motherfucking house". I pull him aside and say"your fucking up" he said"thats how we roll in Detroit". We sit to have more rum and he tells everyone he is from Detroit(who cares).

We finish the bottle of rum and go to 53. At Ejectivo I give him a pep talk that I'm not going to carry his 6'2, 220 pounds around so handle your liquor. Well we go in the club and he passes out(fuck). I'm not hopping a stange cab with this boy like this, so I call one of my trusted cab drivers Julio. Julio arrives an hour later. The night couldve ended bad but we got him home safely. The lesson is when you leave America understand your in someone elses country, adjust your strategy.
