Phitsinulok is a college town with great food and the train north to Chiang Mai which is fun to use going north. Use the second class train. You see more. No AC though. The train south to BKK is long and grueling. Not worth it. You can fly into Sukhothai for $26 most of the time from DMK.

I have not found sex in either place even though I know it is there. Phitsinulok has the Thai fish bowl places. It also has college girls that will totally approach you when they have been drinking. It is a little fun.
