There is an interesting situation developing with Facebook.

For some time, they have been using face recognition technology to link together photos, friends etc, and compiling a dossier on all of their members / customers.

They then sell this information to third parties.

Any information that you provide to Facebook is compiled, and cross referenced to all other mentions of yourself. This builds your dossier.

But now that the intent is to float facebook, it must also issue a prospectus, which must include information about sources of revenue.

If they reveal that a major source of revenue is from selling profiles of customers, then the shit will hit the fan.

No decision by Facebook as yet.
