I am about to book the hotels, it looks like it will be a long way from el Poblado to all the brothels, and there is no 4 star hotels in centro areas, difficult call.

If you lived there or traveled there every month would you seriously look at it as being peanuts giving a different beautiful young energetic girl $100 everyday? More than likely you would not, knowing their rent is $120 for the entire month and people in a normal job make $200 per month.

People that live places or travel to places often tend to seek out and pay more of the local rate than a vacationing spendthrift cares to think about. $100 to three girls IS peanuts over 1 week of vacation. But if a mf is constantly there it would be ridiculous for him to spend $100 on every chick he fucks in a third world country.

My first time to Chiang Mai, Thailand I was looking for a tour to do. Of course being a vacationer I wanted to have things lined up as many guys on this site do with women. Online I saw the tour that I wanted. It was $100. Being that I lived in a different part of Thailand that price sounded a little off to me, so I did not purchase it. When I landed at the airport in Chiang Mai they had booths with the same tour for sale. The price was $60. Still I did not bite.

When I got to the hotel, they were selling the same exact all-day Golden Triangle tour for $30. A normal vacationer would have probably bought the $100 tour when he saw it online since it was peanuts compared to all the money they spent on tickets and hotels, but they would have been in the exact same van getting the exact same service as me, the guy that waited until he was on the ground at the hotel and paid $30.

If it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside to give the extra money then have at it, but you are fucking the same pussy and getting the same smiles as the guy who paid the common rate.

And also sprint doesn't even exist anymore either. Apparently CDMA was an old technology and those phones didn't even have sim cards so there was no way to switch a sim card in those phones so obviously we are referring to GSM phones which are the standard nowadays.

And the youtube videos shows Lleras park hookers seems overpriced. I don't know. I think I need to be there and experience it myself, landing on 2/28.

When you enter into the International gate at the airport, after they confirm you have a boarding pass, there are typically two Colombian police whom are looking at Passports and decide whom may be sent for a more thorough search by the Police, besides airport security. I have seen the Colombian police going thru peoples things, paperwork, etc.

You said it was a secondary search, yet I have never seen a secondary search of anyone after going thru the main checkpoint.

I have flown on Avianca, Copa, and American and have yet to see this during the last seven years.

Was it conducted just prior to boarding the plane, and if so by whom?

Just curious, that's all.

Here are a few reasons:

1. You're more likely to find other tourists in the area around Parque Lleras, especially ones who speak English. You're also more likely to find people who can communicate in English working in the businesses around Parque Lleras.

2. Parque Lleras is the zona rosa of Medellin, the entertainment district. There are several other similar areas, such as La Setenta in Laureles, but the main one is Parque Lleras. The area has a lot of restaurants and night clubs. For some people that's important.

3. Poblado is the new money area of Medellin. That's where you'll find most of the nicest hotels and apartments and many of the best restaurants.

4. There is a general impression that Poblado is a safer area. There are people here who will tell you it's more dangerous than El Centro and people who will tell you it's safer than El Centro. It's not a simple thing and reality has little to do with the general impression.

5. Poblado is a nicer, cleaner area than El Centro.

If those reasons fit you, Poblado might be a good place to stay. There are many things to consider. First, it's only 15-20 minutes by taxi from the area near Parque Lleras to the area near the casas in El Centro and it should cost about $4. During peak traffic it will take longer.

Another thing to consider is your own impression. If you prefer to stay in 4 star hotels, you might not feel comfortable outside of a hotel in El Centro. People can tell you it's perfectly safe and there's nothing to worry about, but you won't know until you get there. More than one person has taken the advice to stay in El Centro, only to waste what they paid, because after 1 night they realized that El Centro is not their kind of place.

My advice, such as it is:

If your main concern is comfort, stay in Poblado.

If your main concern is to save money, stay in El Centro.

If you want a mix of comfort, price and proximity to casas, stay in Laureles.

I assume you are talking dollars Canadian, about $60-$80 US, or somewhere close to 250 k-300 k Colombian. Depending on where you found the girls, how long you were with them and how satisfied you were with the service, that's not much above what many people are paying.

What matters is that you had a good time.

The tour operator (or the girl selling sex) has to earn a certain amount to make a profit. They can sell some seats for $30 (or she can sell her seat for 30 k to some guys) because they know other seats will sell for $60 or $100 (or she knows some guys will pay 100 k or 200 k).

If everyone only pays $30 then either the tour needs to be shortened (or costs must be cut elsewhere), or the price must go up. The girls can turn more tricks to make up the difference, but that's going to end up decreasing the service and length of time.

That's the overly simplified version. In reality, there are probably other tour operators with nicer vans, or who deal with smaller groups. With the girls, you get the same thing. Some girls see several guys each day and charge the low rate. Others only see a few guys each week and charge more. Some charge different prices for different guys, depending on how bad they need the money.

Airlines, hotels and restaurants work on the same model. They can sell some seats, beds or meals at a much lower rate, but they can't sell all of them at that rate. If they try to fill every seat for the cheapest price (like the no frill airlines), they have to decrease legroom to add more seats and charge extra for everything else.

There is one bit which isn't necessarily correct. If you're paying 30 k for a girl, or paying 300 k for a girl, you're probably not talking about the same girl. There are exceptions, but it's not the norm. Certainly the 30 k girl will take 300 k if offered, but the 300 k girls aren't giving it out to other tourists for 30 k.

It works the same in most industries. Whatever your job, there are people doing the same thing for less and people doing the same thing for more. Everyone is lining up for a pay raise, but not many are volunteering for a pay cut.

There are fancy Airbnb's around Centro. You could also rent a room in Centro just for dates and showers then go back to your 4 star hotel to sleep. What I'm trying to say is if you don't want to get dirty then it's best you don't go to Centro.
