Thais like to party. It can be disconcerting to be walking around, hearing Christmas carols in 85 degrees, 70% humidity, with palm trees. Most malls put up Christmas decorations, including trees. The attached photo was captured from the Sky Train outside of Emporium. Methinks those little kids might not be Christian, but certainly in the Christmas spirit.

Given that, a number of girls will go home for the New Year (actually a lot on the day after, not wanting to miss "Open Wallets, holiday spirits"), traffic leaving BKK a bi*tch. 3 years ago, just after Christmas, I met a real [U]stunner[/U] outside one of the Soi 23's MP's. As anywhere, NYE, EVERYONE jacks up their prices, bars will throw parties. A lot of people on the street, partying. Decades ago, I once went down for the show and fireworks near the Grand Palace, before the sky train. Easy enough to GET there, took me an hour's walk to get out of the departing crowd to find an empty taxi.

Being the grouch that I am, I'm not inclined to go out in the crowds, especially around drunken louts, preferring the [I]entertainment[/I] at home. I'd GUESS that a number of ladies will be looking for the BIG score, and there might be a lot of competition. But I will say it's not the worst place to be for NYE, and even then, that's only 1 night. Certainly reason enough to visit.

Hopefully others, especially residents, can contribute more accurate info.

That includes Pattaya's go-go bars, beer bars, Soi 6 and Beach Road.

Getting an upfront agreement for BBBJCIM is easier than for BBFSCIP almost everywhere in Bangkok. But the chance of it actually turning out that way is very low while the chance of it turning into a Hand Job with some Oral Foreplay thrown in is very high.

It was a great time to visit even if so much was closed down due to Covid. I spent a week in Bangkok and a week in Pattaya, this time I am going to spend two weeks in Pattaya.

I arrived in Bangkok on Dec. 31,2018. It was one of the best evenings of my life. Almost every small bar off Soi 4 (Nana area) had some kind of New Year's eve party. There was delicious free food, party atmosphere. I am thinking of going there again this New Year's eve.

The couple of New Years I spent in BKK were good and I'll be back after a good 20 years. As I furiously research my trip, I'm realizing that not much has changed (swapped CM2 at Novotel Siam Square for today's hotspot, massage and gogo scene unchanged, Thermae and Biergarten (sp?) still going strong, Grace Hotel still seems to attract "Russians" (I've mongered in Russia and know they're not), and overall a barrel of monkeys.

Got to give props for the wealth of information I've found RTFF'ing at ISG and I will share my experiences. Some kind soul had posted a link from a Japanese blogger which I found to be a rich vein of incredibly good information.

The days when girls would just say "what you wish" when you talked about money seem to be long gone and I do not think that I'll get "wifed up" like I used to for 4-week like I used to (She came to see me off and I ended up cancelling and rescheduling because of her genuine tears. I've cherry picked some of your comments from the reports above for specific reasons.

I agree with an awful lot of what you say but not all.

Most of all I loved your comment about how on the ground the difference between 200 and 500 baht becomes significant whereas in your own country you wouldn't bat an eyelid about it. I cannot agree more. On my recent visits to Pattaya and BKK I resolved NOT to do this this time. I have fallen victim to it before when I have stupidly turned down great options because 1500 baht sounded expensive. Notwithstanding that in my own territory (Europe) that would be about 70 euros! 70 euros is entry only into most FKKs! That's not getting your dick wet or dry. Its getting it through the door! This trip I did not succumb to this false economy nonsense. Oh I know locals will say "you two week millionaires kill it for us locals" but I don't buy that. The girls know very well the difference between the guys who live locally / are regulars, and the two week tourist. They know they cannot hope to snare a regular with prices they managed to persuade us tourists to part with. I had one amazing day in a gentleman's club in Pattaya, knowing I was leaving the next day (and with some sadness but not on your scale) so decided to fill my boots and took one girl after another, with some breaks for food, drinks, pool, talking but mainly a long string of ladies including a couple of threesomes before ending the night in the room partying with 4 girls! If you are nutting 3 times per day hats off to you. That's simply impossible for me. On a good day I might get the second one out! But like you, you learn to adapt, and enjoy the ride. So a great tip for other tourists. Don't start moaning about a girl quoting you 1200 baht when you've read on ISG that the price is 1000 baht. If you like her just do it! The 200 isn't worth the hassle!

I know what you mean about Thermae but I just couldn't resist going in frequently and selected several girls. Their negotiation skills are poor. This is due to being in the herd of girls and wanting a catch, and if you go in wearing expensive clothes and smelling good, they almost smirk at the other girls when you chose them. Long time since I was considered "the prize"! I had a lot of fun with a tiny little girl with short black hair called Noy from Thermae.

The oillies are also my favourites. I love the soapies in Pattaya and lament the closing of Annies which I also loved, but there are great options at the oilies and very reasonably priced. For me, Huai Kwang was good. I loved the whole look and feel of those big brash places and again, I didn't care that they were more costly than the oilies because in comparison with sterling and euros, and the cost of good sex in Europe / UK / Dubai / Singapore, this was still incredibly cheap. My personal favourite being La Belle. Some excellent choices. Only place I felt I was being ripped of in was The Pimp club. Only went once. Flash, impressive, great line up, but you are required to take 2 girls minimum to a room (first hour 2000 and each hour 1000 after), and buy a bottle (starts at 4000 even for wine! I knew before I went there that it was unlikely to cost me less than 15000 for the night. Ok its a lot especially in Thailand, but its less than I've spent for a night in Manchester, Berlin, Frankfurt, Madrid, Malaga, London etc for a great time. I did have a great time but felt it was pressured and sharky and the journey there from central BKK (I stupidly went on a bike) was crazy. But still a great experience.

Your approach to this trip, the exercise, walking, stealth, economics, appreciation of the touristy elements and sympathy for the stories (even if a little heavy sometimes) resonated so much with me.
