I would like to help you but I'm not sure I have the necessary patience or knowledge. I am going to try. By now you probably agree it's better to know whether an activity is legal or not before you engage in it publicly. Whenever police or anyone unknown to you asks to move to a more secluded location, alarm bells and red flags should immediately go off. I hope that helps.

You can see and smell people smoking in public all the time especially in Medellin. What happened to you is a classic case of a corrupt cop intimidating a foreigner into paying a bribe. Next time it happens don't give them any money. Tell them "no hice nada ilegal, si quiere vamos a hablar con la fiscalia" and at that point they most likely would have let you go about your business.

Obviously they aren't going to really take you to the fiscalia as they themselves would be the ones getting in trouble for an attempted extortion. Also never go out of sight with them, if anything you want other people around to see what's happening and if the situation escalates you can tell other people what's happening "este oficial me quiere quitar plata y no hice nada ilegal, solo estaba fumando un cigarro y me estan molestando porque soy extranjero" at that point they would definitely back off.

Police corruption is a big problem in Colombia and the public is well aware of it. The riots last April were about police corruption. And have you ever seen graffiti that says "nos estan matando" that is a reference to police brutality

I'm going to Medellin for 3 weeks. Can anyone recommend me a hotel / Airbnb where.

- the location is central (Spanish is almost non-existent).

- no guest fee is necessary (max. 1 per day is OK for me).

- an ID-check for guests is mandatory (due to safety-reasons).

- having a balcony on which smoking weed isn't a problem.

It seems that the "famous" Hotel M doesn't have balconies. And in general I would prefer "normal" hotels.

Would love to hear from you guys.

Those shitty round tubs are called garden tubs. The water doesn't get too hot because many places use inline, on demand water heaters. Many of the water heaters are not properly adjusted. There are 2 adjustments, 1 controls the flow rate through the heater, the other controls the temperature. Usually it's adjusted to provide warm water, not hot water.

Adjusting those water heaters is a bit of an art. If you turn the temperature up too much it overheats and shuts off to prevent starting a fire. If you increase the flow, it reduces the temperature.

If you manage to get the water nice and hot, most girls won't go in because it's too hot for them. They're used to lukewarm water.

I enjoy a jacuzzi, but it's not a deal breaker when I'm looking for an apartment. I first narrow down my price range, usually $39-$85 a night, then decide which place provides better value for me, depending on my plans for that trip.

Knowledge. Thank you, I think I have a pretty good dance of letting them get into a big trouble. But I think I will be back in the laurels neighborhood. I am not sure if I should report them and lose their job. What if they go revenge on me and kill me or beat my ass.

By then FB-2 pinged to see me again and as I was not into musems, I told my buddy to continue the tour and left. FB-2 booked a spa (Cra. 35 #8 A 58) for couple session at 100 mil. This looks like a hotel / hostel but inside its kind love motel with rooftop and jacuzzy. Picked up the chic on scooter from her house (30 minutes away from central) and rode back to pablado spa. We headed to Santa Fe for street action. Went to few clubs but did not liked much. Ended up picking two vennies (not my taste but) who quoted 2 hours 200 mil for all the 4 of us. By this time one of the local guy we met got high and getting annoyed around us. Got mood off and got rid of him and called the night.

Day-7, went to Monserrate and spent some quality time on the top of hill. Got down and had lunch and packed the bags and returned to airport but 3 hours early. Kicked yourself of not banging any one in Bogota and tried if there are any casa close to the airport but could not find that info. Sadly boarded the flight and returned back to YYZ.

Its been almost a week but Colombia is haunting to return back. I will go back again but this time will plan to take 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen so that cooking some spicy food with fresh meat and bringing multiple chics at a time to spend more time with us.

Left with 300 mil but did not exchanged back to CAD as I am pretty sure will return in few months.

The place you mentioned that has no balconies is in a very different neighborhood than the Nutibara. What did you mean by "the location is central?

If you think you have a reduced chance of catching an STD because your not banging Centro, Casa, or Lleras girls I don't know about that.

If your banging all those girls without a condom, there's a high probability they are banging lots of other guys without a condom as well.
