There has been discussion here in the past about whether or not it is a waste of energy to be "nice" to the sex workers, and if it matters that they "like" you or not. Well, for one thing, it's helluva lot safer. Every girl on my List I can leave money, credit cards, passport laying out without any worries. Not only are they nice to me, they can protect me in certain situations. There are exceptions, (Nigeria and Kenya come to mind, prob more I don't know about) but having a local chica on your arm is a good deterrent to any foul play from the locals.

To wit, Secret is no longer on my Top Ten, but she's working hard to get back on it. Leaving money out in front of her is like putting cheddar cheese in front of a starving rat. There is no question what will happen next and is is to be expected. Secret also brought me NNN (New Nubile Newbie) Number Four last night from her "agency" she is informally running at the moment. The other night, I went to where the girls are in Poblado for my first time ever in the over two years I have been coming here. My wingman was an experienced Pobladian. I get it, easy to see the attraction. I won't be running back there any time soon, but pretty kool venue, especially for gringos who have been to similar places in the states. You get the same vibe in Poblado as you would in any number of higher-end touristy sections of big cities in the USA, with the added bonus of knowing you will get the girl in the end, at a much less overall cost.

I don't like stuff that reminds me of the USA but that is obviously a personal preference.

So my personal bias was wondering about what the actual laws or statutes say on the books about cannabis use in Medellin.

Your real-world answer probably has more utility, but if push came to shove, let's say the cameras caught the policia extorting the monger for the marijuana fine, how would that shake out in the courts? We still don't have that answer.

But at the same time, it's not as malicious and evil as say what you might find in the USA, certainly back in the day. I haven't figured it out, no one asked me and why should they?

The current state of racism in Medellin is more overt compared to the USA, but at the same time more superficial and less malignant. Perhaps this is because Colombia is at that tipping point of becoming a developed nation, so the impacts of racism are still mainly cultural and not financial. Really shooting from the hip here.

I was married to a dark black Baltimore ghetto girl for 16 years, and I thought I was racially enlightened before that, but I didn't know what I didn't know and I garnered a much, much deeper understanding of racial issues after that marriage and rearing her four children. Would not trade that experience for anything in the world.

I still love my ex-wife. We are getting ready to drive the entire length of Route 66 for the second time, this time in reverse direction from Santa Monica Pier in California to downtown Chicago. Full disclosure, I've only been in there a couple of times. I saw a little bit of everything and in general I would describe the staff as a cut above the average Centro casa workforce. I wore that once when visiting a Korean AAMP in the Bay Area whom I'd known for a long time and she said quite directly "you look like a white guy today."

T-shirts and jeans made from cotton don't deal with sweat well but maybe they blend in and reduce my chances of getting mugged.
