Medellin Reports

I'd disagree about the importance of education in Latin America. A lot of people work hard to get their kids in private sometimes bilingual grade schools and high schools. I met a chica that went to one of those bilingual schools in Medellin. As far as university I think a lot of people study more practical things like business administration, industrial engineering, IT etc. Interestingly throughout Latin America public universities are more prestigious than private ones despite the fact there are strikes often and things take longer at those schools. I'm an archeologist whose worked in Central America and I find that its mostly only the kids of the wealthy or professors kids that study such impractical things as anthropology or literature. The issue at least in Central America was often getting a job after studying. That often required family connections rather than grades / competency. I know less about the situation in Colombia though I suspect its the same.

Now the chicas working as prepagos skew towards less educated, though I've talked to a few that are university students. So you might have a negative bias about education levels based on that.

Put me down for agreeing with Lefeu and not with Recondite. I think that Western European and Asian cultures in particular put more emphasis on formal education than you see in LatAm. The English speaking world is somewhere in between the two. My observations pertain to the entirety of LatAm vs. Colombia in particular, but I would say Colombia puts the least emphasis on education of the six LatAm countries I have lived in.

Main factor being SEA reopening and Chinese and Russian tourists out of the market. Chinese tourists still face serious quarantine requirements upon reentering the country which deter casual travelers. Russians can't do much right now overseas. In terms of general tourism, Chinese are the top tourist source in Thailand and #2 in the Philippines. Russians were the #3 source to Thailand in 2017 according to WorldAtlas. It might take time to realize the change but I think guys from North America and Europe will probably start returning to SEA this year given the supply / demand imbalance. So maybe mid year or fall, we'll start seeing foreigner demand ease up in Medellin?

Until the "Test and Go" is taken away, I don't think you'll see a massive influx of tourists coming back. If you test positive, you get quarantined for 7 days and they're still testing at the bars. I can't afford a 7 day quarantine during a trip. Plus, there's usually a drop in tourism there this time of year. Maybe when high season returns (November and December), I think you'll see some foreigners return to Thailand.

I'm sure Covid has also permanently changed some tourism. Why get on a 20+ hour flight to Bangkok or the Phillipines when I can be in Medellin in 7. 5 hours, including a layover? I'll eventually return to Thailand, but for convenience, price, and beautiful women, Medellin can't be beat.

After a couple of unsuccessful tries, I will finally travel to Medellin on the week of March 28th.

I'm planning visit energy spa and a couple of strip clubs. I will also look for SW in parque Lleras.

I will greatly appreciate if someone can share me FB girls options.

Will be better be in a Hotel or in a air bnb in "el Poblado" area?

That will lesson demand in Medellin.

Colombia requires you to be vaccinated and use their website.

Thailand requires you to be vaccinated, use their website, stay in a SHA hotel for a day and get tested and face a 14 day quarantine with a positive result or stay in a SHA for a week in a sandbox.

If the restrictions were the same, you'd see more travel elsewhere (perhaps with people steering clear of Eastern Europe). Until that happens, people will go where it's easiest.

I've never paid 80 myself but some friends have. The chicas will charge what they think you will pay.

BTW I wouldn't call any of the el centro places "nice".

Staying in Poblado right now. Going in several days of two week trip and will post full update at the end but wanted to say that I just came back from La Isla on a Friday night. Can concur that there is increased demand and it was kinda a sausage fest and girls were entitled. Center stage had some good performances but overpriced overall. Now they are charging 30 mil entrance and 350 mil. Also my hotel is charging an arm and leg for guest fee, but I prefer the service here. Maybe will try FB, but I feel like weekends are worse than weekdays. Not bad start. Colombia is relatively cheap.

I know guys who used to rave about the Philippines and Thailand, but after coming to Medellin during the Pandemic, they are in no hurry to go back to Asia for not only the reasons you mentioned, but also because it's so inexpensive.

Unfortunately though, I have noticed a downturn of prettier Chicas in Centro as of lately. There seems to be fewer and fewer of them working (primarily Vennies), and lots of fat and pugy Chicas, whom I call fuglies.

Apparently, in talking with some of the Vennies in Centro, things are getting better in Venezuela, hence fewer of them are coming or spending as much time here, albeit lots of them working here now reside in Colombia.

I think the provider supply far exceeds the demand from Colombians and foreigners. Looking beyond my Centro rat perspective, has anyone found it harders to get dates since the pandemic? I don't have a lot of first hand experience with facebook and other web sites. When I have used them it has been after meeting women in real life in shops, the metro, and of course the streets of Centro. I guess I notice more gringos than before around Centro. In Poblado, Laureles, Sabaneta etc. There have always been so many I don't really notice a difference. On a related note, the other day I stumbled on one of those youtube videos about "unknown Medellin. " Most of it was filmed in Parque Lleras. I was a little surprised to see a girl working Lleras that I always see whenever I am in Plaza Botero. The point for me is she and others like would definitely miss punters who abandon Medellin for Asia. I don't know anyone who is here full time or even regularly who is paying 300,000 and up to girls in Lleras, whether or not they also work Plaza Botero for 30,000.

As far as girls working both LLeras and Centro, that's been going on for awhile. And as far as punters being missed when they return to Asia, I think they will be most missed in Centro versus thru social media like Fayboo.

As far as more gringos in Centro, it's got to be a minimum of at least 20 times as many as before the Pandemic, and I have previously posted about my frustration (s) with this in my beloved playground! LOL.

And as far as provider supply, it definitely exceeds demand, albeit I think it's gone down a bit as far as Vennies, along with the quality of them.

Provider supply on the Colombian side seems to be pretty constant based on my observations, at least in Centro.

The other day a buddy posted on fb a clip from one of those airport immigration shows. The guy came back in the States from Colombia and I guess they went through his phone. There was talk of paying the connect or bar fine 250 and the girl 500. I do not know if this was dollars or thousand pesos, but either way damn. I think the guy came in from Cartagena. He was saying he does not remember anything because he is an alcoholic and was drunk. They finally had to let him go because they had no evidence that the chicks were not old enough.

I think you are on to something here. I have a bit of anecdotal reports from girls I know from Centro who went back to Venezuela for the Christmas holiday and have not returned. I agree about the quality downturn as well. I find myself lately working my contacts rather than my happy hunting ground of the streets. I hope it's a passing trend.
