Besides, Parque Lleras has been in a serious decline for the past 2 years. More than any other area in Medellin, Parque Lleras depends on the tourist spending and Covid took most of that away. Last year half of the businesses in the area were shut down. The only places which seemed to be thriving were the ones most commonly frequented by gringos.

That prob ruined Sosua, Pataya and now Colombia. Gringos in El Centro increased perhaps by 200-300 percent in the last two years. Before 2020, and especially before 2015, there were few gringos there. Also the behavior and social background tend to be different. Now many gringos hang around and talk loud at Plaza Bolivar while the pre-covid gringos use to keep low profile. Some of the guys are argumentative with locals and they were kicked out of the hotels and restaurants, and some of them were arrested. Most of the gringos in the last decade were professionals with college degree or advanced degrees. A majority of El Centro gringos today are high school graduates, very few speak Spanish, and many of them are anti=vaxxers.

Truth is tourism only makes up like 3% or something, people are still scared to come here and also english not being spoken there popular turns a lot of people away.
