It is obvious that you are not streetwise in the least. The first thing to always remember is that this is street shit. There are no contracts or gentlemen's agreements. A chick can promise you the world beforehand and say she is fine with $100 for 1 hour. That means shit. She can always get behind closed doors and not do anything that was promised and demand $200 for the 30 minutes she was there. You can search youtube for that very think that happens in Sosua all of the time.

I had an agreement with a chick in Sosua. When I met her I even took a picture of her and said I will keep this in case you try to fuck me over. You think that stopped her from trying to cut the time short and demand more money? WRONG! I even gave her the original money and she tried to claim I gave her nothing. The maid went into the room and found that exact sum balled up on the bed.

The chick wanted to call the police. I am no dummy. Most guys would be terrified that the police is coming and do what they can to avoid it. When they arrived, I asked the police how much they make in 1 month. The sergeant said $125. I said right. And this chick expects you to believe that I am dumb enough to promise her $100 for a few hours when most people barely make that in 1 month. They made her leave.

Anything can go wrong at any time. Just because in your mind you may be thinking this is a simple transaction and this person will be overjoyed that I am helping them out with some money, does not mean being overjoyed because you are giving them money is what is in their head. They could be part of some mafia or robbing crew or anything. Keep your head out of your ass and on a swivel and never get complacent.

But of course you are reading all of this and will one day get comfortable, at which time it will bite you in the ass. I know all of this but still slip up myself sometimes. Experience is always the best teacher. These chicks are NOT your friends!

Looks like my first ever visit to Medellin will coincide with national elections in May. I usually avoid travelling to countries around election time due to who knows what will happen. Not sure how crazy things become in Medellin around election time.

Can the experienced mongers please chime in. Is Medellin and more importantly our hobby still safely enjoyable around election time?

7. The Antagonists. Their only purpose is to attack anything written by their current enemy.

8. The Basement Dwellers. They've never traveled, but they post reports and reviews which they copy from other reports.

9. The Anecdotals. Because one thing happened to them, often in a different place, that thing is guaranteed to happen to everyone else.

10. The disbelievers. If someone has a better experience than they usually have, the other person must be lying.

11. The misdirector. Whatever someone posts, they had an experience which is in no way related and happened somewhere else, which proves the postee is mistaken.

12. The CSR. Customer Service Rep. The guys who try to help.

It's worth remembering that most posters fall in different categories at different times.

He did go the ATM with the girl more than once, and was under the influence of scoplamine for around 3 days. He could not remember most of what happened, but a mutual friend saw him with the girl, knew something was wrong as he was acting strangely. The friend tried to follow him but lost him in a crowd. Anyway over a period of 3 days she got a significant amount of money and stole stuff from his place, but fortunately he recovered without serious damage. I don't think it makes anyone a slave or anything like that, just happy, unconnected with what is going on, and susceptible to suggestion. He probably just thought he was having fun, and maybe he was in a way. But without remembering the last trip to the ATM to give the girl money.

The ones who analyze other board members and categorize them into stereotypical groups to boost themselves and their own self worth.

So just to add to the discussion about being "scoped," I always tell people not to accept drinks from other people, to take their drinks to the bathroom, blah blah blah. I tell people not to invite women they have never met to their apartment, and definitely not multiple women. I tell people to always take cabs at night, not to go with touts, and not to buy drugs on the street.

However, although I tell other people to do that shit, I never personally do any of it. And, I've never been drugged or robbed by a chica. I will have my 50th anniversary of mongering later this year if I can stay alive that long. I've gotten mugged, stomped, thrown in jail, chased by packs of dogs, spit on and I can't remember what else but never drugged or robbed by a chica. Once in a bar in Costa Rica I got roofied or something but I'm 95% sure that was mistaken identity; a guy was trying to roofie one of the women we were with. He evaporated once he realized his mistake and the other people, whom I did not know at all, took me to a hotel and used money out of my pockets to pay for the room. And there I woke up. They had left a note with the hotel desk clerk explaining things and apologizing for the fact it took almost all my money to pay for the room. Later I ran into one of them again and was able to piece together more. My point is, don't overly focus on getting robbed by the chicas to the extent you let your guard down in other ways. Bad shit can happen lots of places and lots of ways.
