Typically you want to do your withdrawals during the day. I live in Laureles, there are a number of ATMs inside of Unicentro or Laureles Mall and also inside of Jumbo. These are safe places because you are inside a shopping mall or a grocery / variety store. ATMs on a busy street like 'la setenta' are pretty safe when there are a ton of people around.

A lot of the ATMs are right next door to the bank branch that has armed guards, so you're pretty safe (during working hours).

Wandering around and getting money out of an ATM (cajero) late at night is just begging to be robbed. You'll get away with it most of the time. Until you don't.
