An alternative to a buffet in Bangkok is to go to Pier 21 in Terminal 21, choose 4 restaurants and order 5 items off each menu. 20 items x 40-60 baht = 800-1200 baht. That's way more food than 2 people can finish and only 400-600 baht per person. You'll also be the envy of all the cute Thai girls eating there. Invite a few to your table they'll likely join you.
Where are the American football fans and / or screens these days, no need for girls, so I can grab the playoffs when I get in. Monday 1 am.

If you're only travelling for a week or two, perhaps not worth it.

This has many benefits:
Considerably less exhausting.
Check out the scene both London and Frankfurt have awesome girl options.
It's LESS expensive. Book separate round trip to London from home and separate RT from London to Bangkok. Guaranteed to be less expensive than the complete round trip. Even with hotels. Seriously. I do it all the time.
Thanks for the food recs guys and the eatigo app too. I'll definitely give that a try. There's a renowned Thai restaurant in Las Vegas, Lotus of Siam, and when I lived there a few years ago they offered an amazing lunch buffet. I was spoiled eating there weekly and unfortunately that buffet ended after a couple years. Maybe the hotel buffets are the closest to that so I'll look around.

Hey Steve that's exactly what I'm doing. Flying to Portugal tomorrow and then on to BKK next week. That 13 hour time change is a killer so I'm breaking it in half.

I would say most are not, but it depends on your location and age range. I agree that a large percentage of girls age 18-32 in Pattaya are freelancers.
Line is definitely the most popular app for video chatting. WhatsApp is probably #2. I recommend video chat with everyone before you make an appointment. It's easy for a ladyboy or ugly girl to look good in a filtered still picture, but difficult to look and sound good in video. Pay attention to voice. 2 or 3 minutes of video chat will tell a lot. If she refuses to video chat, I suggest moving to the next profile.

Glad most make that clear on their profiles. They all should.

No need to wait to set up LINE. You have to enter a mobile number when registering, but a password gets you in, and once in, my mobile doesn't need any LOCAL number. For logging in using the app on a computer, easiest is to scan the QR card on the computer on your mobile, and authorize the login. Video works great (obviously depends on your connection speed), but the vast majority uses LINE (I still have one connection on WEChat, but that was from years ago). Everyone else is on LINE.

Everything is given as reference to main roads, e. G. Sukhumvit, Soi 22, then name. If you're going to be in BKK for any length of time, and by that, for me, over a day, get a BTS card and an MRT card. Each costs 100 baht, and you add baht on top of the card fee to use for travel. Rather than standing in line for a ticket machine, or to get change for a ticket machine, you just swipe your card in the turnstyle, travel, then swipe out, and it deducts the correct amount (charges are by distance traveled). I keep my card for my next trip. If the card expires while you're gone, they take any remaining balance from the old card, apply it to the new fee, and any extra gets transferred to the new card. Any number of apps with BTS/MRT route maps.
As stated, make sure taxis use the meter, and never use a taxi parked outside hotel, club, bar, etc. Walk a block, and grab one from the street. Look for a green word in the front windshield to show available, blank (or red, maybe that's old times) means taken. You're looking for a green sign on the dash visible via the windshield. Stand on the sidewalk, or half step into street, and arm straight out, I point mine on a slant down, and give a little up and down motion. Get in the back seat. When exiting, exit left, and ESPECIALLY if the cab has not pulled to the curb, be careful of opening the door. Motorcycle taxis lane split. Customary to round up to the nearest 10 baht on the fare.
MY MO is to either walk (when I'm feeling energetic), or take a taxi to a BTS station, BTS and / or MRT to near my destination, then either walk or take a taxi to the spot. When it's a cross street, say Soi Thong Lor, soi 13, I'll use google translate to have the soi number (I'm horrible with numbers over 2) on the screen. Traffic can be bad (taxis stuck), so I find the BTS / MRT short walk works for me. A motorcycle taxi is another method, but it's an e-ticket ride. Worth it to have a local sim card so you have internet connection when out and about rather than relying on wi-fi. Google maps works great. Due to the changes in 3 years, several of MY landmarks gone, google maps allowed me to re-orient and correct.
Lastly, if it's some place [I]obscure[/I], as stated, ask your hotel to write it down in Thai and show the paper to the driver. I've found they're very good at getting you there. YMMV.

Frequent flier benefits, even though I'm flying back of the bus, I can use the business class lounge. A real perk from Asiana. But I don't go for anything less than a month.

Will I get the same amount of Bhat out if I withdrew $500 of Bhat out in the ATM versus if I exchanged $500 Bhat at SuperRich? If the amounts are going to be similar after I get my ATM refund, I feel that there is no need to carry big wads of cash around, and also have to worry about trying to find the nearest Money Exchange shop near by.
