My understanding of Sri Lanka law is that prostitution itself, and having sex with a prostitute, are NOT illegal. What is illegal is:
(1) Soliciting (That means a prostitute walking the streets looking for customers)
(2) Living off the earnings of a prostitute (Pimping)
(3) Owning or managing a "house of ill fame".

When the Police raid such a house they could take the customers to the Police Station for questioning, but I don't think they can charge you with anything. I am not a lawyer, so if anyone has more accurate information please let us know.
